Drumond Park The Best of TV & Movies Review

Reviewed by David Savage
I love board games and Drumond Park offer an excellent range. I was recently sent The Best of TV & Movies, part of the LOGO family of board games, for review. It is a game for 2-6 players (or team) and the age range is from 12 to adult. The idea is to make your way around the circular board to the winning zone by answering questions on films and television shows.
On opening, in the box there is:
A circular playing board
6 Playing Pieces
3 packs of cards (300 question cards and 3 bonus cards)
We put the playing board on the table, each selected a different colour playing piece (these look like wizard hats), removed the bonus cards (these are only used if playing team games) and put all the question cards into their cardboard tray and were ready to start playing (we were playing with 2 adults and a 13 year old). We selected a question master to start for that round.
On the board are different coloured squares and the idea is that the question master selects a card from the tray. Each card has four questions (Orange, Purple, Blue and Green). You start with orange question and if the player whose turn it is gets it right they move their playing piece to the first orange square on the board, then then have to answer the next question on the card. This continues until all four questions on the card have been answered. If a question is answered incorrectly they the question goes to the next player and so on. The first person to reach the end and answer two consecutive questions or one green question is the winner.
We haven’t tried as a team game yet but the rules are same except for the three bonus cards come into play. These can be used once per game per team. The cards are:
Mute Card: Silence one player from the opposing team to stop them answering the card in play.
Change Channel Card: Select the next question card and answer questions on that card instead.
Fast Forward Card: Move to the next question on the card.
Overall, this is yet another quality board game from Drumond Park. Although being able to win depends on your knowledge of watching television and films. While I don’t watch a lot of television programs I do watch a lot of films and there are questions that will suit all age ranges and obviously if you play teams games make sure you pick wisely to cover as much of a range as possible, so mix young with old, tv programs and film watchers.
We had great fun playing and board games make for great social interaction as well as fun, they get people talking to each and interacting. And with the school summer holidays fast approaching a Drumond Park board game is a great way to spend quality time with friends and family and enjoy yourselves. What better way to get away from the TV than by playing games and testing your knowledge of the programs and films that you have watched.
Highly recommended and lots of fun, even if like me you don’t watch lots of television.
