We recently interviewed the lovely Jessica Fox (Nancy Osborne in Hollyoaks) about recent storylines on the popular Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks. This is what she had to about parenthood & Nancy's relationship with Darren.

What has been your most exciting storyline so far on the show?
I've been so lucky to have lots of exciting storylines over the years but to me exciting means challenging. So in that respect I would have to say Nancy and Darren's struggle to have a baby over the last year. It is very exciting to be part of the big stunt episodes but for getting to tell a very intimate and personal storyline like this one was a real challenge to do personally and so that has made it one of the most enjoyable.
Who do you most enjoy filming with?
There's no one I don't like to work with but I'm going to have to say the Osbournes. We are all mad as a box of frogs and have such a laugh together. It's a pleasure to come into work to spend time with those crazy cats!
In what way do you think Darren & Nancy’s relationship has changed now that they are parents?
Well they had to do some serious growing up and quickly! It's been a roller coaster since Oscar's birth and none of it has been easy. I think right now both their priorities are Oscar and his needs but hopefully we will see some fun stuff coming up for them soon.
What preparation work did you do before your scenes?
I did a fair amount of research online. People are incredibly generous at sharing their stories which was very helpful. Although we want to tell a story truthfully and factually correct it is also meant to be entertaining so there is a certain amount of artistic licence in the storylines.
What is the best thing about working on the show?
The people. Everyone from Martin in the canteen to Bryan our producer is lovely, hard working, smiley, caring and funny and I'm very lucky to be surrounded by them daily!
Do you think that Darren & Nancy will make it as a couple?
I hope so! They've been through more than most soap couples and are still together. It will never be easy for them and there is a lot of drama up ahead but whatever the writers seem to throw at them they bounce back because at the end of the day they love each other and also really make each other laugh!
