In amongst the different chain restaurants and independent eateries on Goodge Street in London, Fraq’s Lobster Shaq definitely stands out. An intimate, family-run restaurant, it offers seafood from the east coast of the USA. The restaurant itself keeps things simple – it’s really stripped back with a lovely beach-feel interior (white washed wood panelled walls). It was quiet when I visited so there were lots of welcoming staff. The only downside was the volume of the music as even though it was quiet, I felt like I had to shout over it to tell the girl what I wanted to eat.

The food itself might be seen as quite pricey – roughly £8 for a ‘roll’ and another £3 or so for sides – but luckily the roll was as meaty as the price tag. I opted for the garlic Boston lobster roll and a side of sweet potato fries (and a small glass of their white wine!). What arrived was a large brioche bun stuffed with shredded lettuce, garlic mayo and lots of delicious lobster meat – definitely a success in my book! The roll arrived on a tray nicely presented with my sweet potato fries overflowing from their silver holder. The Boston roll was so delicious and my sweet potato fries were amazing and seasoned perfectly. I then opted for the Banoffee Pie dessert – sticky, light and very very tasty, a lovely way to end a fab meal.

The menu is slightly restricted but of course, it is lobster so you can’t really complain – unless you’re not a fan of seafood and then I would recommend you head elsewhere. You can even order an XL roll… maybe next time!

Open 12pm – 11pm offering takeaway and delivery, it means you can get your lobster fix any time! Definitely somewhere I could while a-way a couple of hours trying everything on the menu, because I mean, who doesn’t love lobster!? So I’d give Fraq’s a fabulous 4 out of 5.

Rating: 4/5
