To coincide with the new DVD and Blu-ray release of The Equalizer starring Denzel Washington, Fabulous Films present the original, made for television, The Equalizer – The Movie: Blood and Wine starring Edward Woodward and Telly Savalas (for those old enough to remember: Kojak).

The Equalizer was a classic, hit television series in the 80s about a retired covert intelligence officer who is trying to make amends for his past sins by offering his unique skill set free of charge to the citizens of New York by placing a newspaper ad “Gotta problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer.”

In Blood and Wine, Robert McCall (Edward Woodward), is forced to work with a former terrorist he once tried to kill, Father Joseph Hayden (Telly Savalas) when another terrorist named Alpha is on a deadly mission. Alpha was trained by Father Joseph and uses plastic surgery after every mission to also be one step ahead.

Overall, Blood and Wine is the first two episodes from Season 3. McCall teams up with an ex-target who has been protected by The Company for years and he despises and mistrusts him completely but he is forced to work with to stop a very deadly terrorist.

Edward Woodward is excellent as the cold, but good hearted vigilante troubleshooting who solves problems that the police and other authorities can get involved in. With the help of his mysterious contacts and ”Control” (Robert Lansing) he helps the people who cannot be helped.

The Equalizer is an excellent, classic television crime drama and Blood and Wine is no exception.
