Hidden is a short play written by and starring Laura Lindsay and Peter Carruthers.

Laura plays three characters, Claire a shelf stacker looking for a man, Cara who is hiding her worries about her weight and Nina a career woman coming to terms with an unexpected pregnancy. The male characters are played by Peter Carruthers who switches easily between Gareth, a sausage obsessed man struggling with his sexuality, James a commuter who breaks the rules and Colin who is just trying to keep control.

The play flows easily from character to character and the links between each are revealed as the play unfolds. There is a strong sexual theme running through the play and a lot of bad language so it isn’t for the prudish. The strongest character for me was James, the portrayal of an erotic episode on the commuter train being particularly funny.

The play lasts for about an hour and despite there only being two actors and the bare minimum of props it works very well. There is plenty of humour resulting in plenty of laughter in the theatre.

This play was interesting to watch and I’m sure most people can associate with at least one if not more of the characters.
