We entered The Palace Theatre surrounded by tens of mini ballerinas all excited to see their favourite ballerina on stage! Our party of two adults and 3 excitable girls aged from 3 – 6 years were all very giddy, and to keep the children entertained before the show started the girls were given colouring sheets and crayons to colour picturesof Angelina Ballerina (a lovely touch).

The story line is along the idea that Angelina Ballerina and her mouse friends from Camembert Academy have been chosen to put on a show and appear on their favourite television show ‘Dancing With Mice’! But the girls and boys have different ideas for the show and it almost turns into a disaster… as Angelina’s role of Dance Captain, she needs to make sure everyone works together and all of her friend’s dreams come true!

The cast of 6 work very hard in the show – it is nonstop dancing and singing. There were even parts where the audience was invited to join in with some of the dance actions – our girls loved this! The costumes for the show were really great and I thought the stage settings of garlands, fairy lights reflected the illustration style in the Angelina Ballerina books perfectly.

Towards the end, eight little ballerinas even joined in the show from The Flixton Academy of Performing Arts – I am sure every little girls dream!

Our girls loved every part of the production; the dancing and the music. And, after the show had finished, you could see lots of little ballerinas dancing their way home on Whitworth Street and Oxford Road!

Angelina Ballerina The Mousical is only on this weekend (17th – 19th August) so dig out your dancing shoes and go and see it!
