Being married to a Scotsman, our house is no stranger to Shortbread, so I was more than willing to take one for the team and test some of the delicious Walker’s festive offerings.

A large cardboard box full of goodies arrived really quickly and was really well packaged, so all the items arrived in pristine conditions. When I saw what was inside, boy were we in for a pre-Christmas treat! We received the following Walker’s items:

Festive Shortbread Stars Tin (260g)
Festive Shapes Shortbread Carton (60g)
Shortbread Festive Shapes (175g)
4 Gingerbread Mince Pies (245g)
Shortbread Fingers Tin (250g)

First impressions of the package was how lovely all of the products looked. All items were beautifully packaged and I could imagine gifting these lovely items to friends and family as Christmas presents. I was particularly taken with the Festive Shortbread Stars Tin and the Shortbread Fingers Tin, which made the items look premium and perfect for gifting. I also liked how all of the products carried the tartan design of the Walker’s brand, but it wasn’t overpowering.

My family and I got stuck straight into taste-testing the products, it’s a tough job, but someone had to do it!

Festive Shortbread Stars Tin (260g)

This is a beautiful tartan tin full of 18 shortbread festive stars, which is all-butter shortbread with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg. I’m not normally the biggest cinnamon fan, but my goodness these stars were mightily delicious. The flavour was very subtle, which to me, made them perfect. I loved the size of stars, they’re a decent enough size to both appreciate the flavour and also to only need one at a time, without feeling short-changed (although, did I stop at just one? I’ll let you decide!) I think these would go down a treat if I gave them as a Christmas gift.

Even better is the tin is really lovely and completely reusable, so there’s no need to throw it out after Christmas. It’s a Christmas gift that keeps on giving.

RRP: £11.00

Festive Shapes Shortbread Carton (60g)

This was a small cardboard carton, containing 4 different festive shapes (Santa face, star, bell and Christmas tree) of shortbread. With the perfect combination of ‘crunch’ and crumbliness, these biscuits were a real hit in our house. You simply cannot beat the beautiful all-butter flavour. Again, loved the size of these biscuits, giving you enough to get your teeth into. Beautifully sprinkled with the traditional sugar.

These would make a perfect stocking-filler for any shortbread-lover.

RRP: £2.50

Shortbread Festive Shapes (175g)
The Shortbread Festive Shapes (175g) was a larger carton of the Festive shapes Shortbread Carton above. Again containing delicious all-butter shortbread festive shapes of Santa faces, Christmas trees, bells and stars. It’s great that the cardboard carton is recyclable, as is the internal plastic tray and the single use plastic is recyclable through schemes at larger supermarkets.

In addition, these biscuits are suitable for vegetarians and certified Kosher OUD.

RRP: £4.00

Gingerbread Mince Pies (245g):

I’ve not really come across mince pies made from ginger shortbread, so I was really keen to give them a whirl. There were 4 gingerbread mince pies in the pack, each encased in foil. The gingerbread ‘man’ on top of each mince pie was a delightful touch and each pie was a really good portion size. I found the after taste of the ginger a little overpowering, but I really appreciated this unique twist on this festive classic. Overall, I think this a great little product and would definitely get some of these as gifts for my loved ones.

RRP: £3.75, currently on sale for £2.63.

Shortbread Fingers Tin (250g):
Shortbread fingers are a staple in our house, so it was great to have some Walker’s Shortbread Fingers to try. This tin, which is cleverly designed to resemble a giant shortbread finger, contains 16 shortbread fingers. They were utterly delicious. The buttery taste of Walker’s shortbread is second to none. Suffice to say, these delicious biscuits didn’t hang around for long, when we had friends over this weekend.
Again, they are suitable for vegetarians and certified Kosher OUD.

RRP: £8.50
Walker’s dates all the way back to 1898, when Joseph Walker opened his very first bakery in the Speyside region of Scotland, with the ambition to bake the “World’s Finest Shortbread”. I would definitely say, mission accomplished! Now it is his grandchildren and great grandchildren who continue his tradition.

Walker’s offer a delightful range of products, including these festive offerings, visit https://www.walkersshortbread.com/ to see their full range. They offer free delivery on orders over £40. Orders under £40 incur a £5 delivery charge, which may take up to 5 working days.

If you sign up with your email address on Walker’s website, you can also enjoy 10% off your first order.

All of the products we tried would make a perfect Christmas gift for family and friends. Due to their versatility, I think they make the perfect gift, whatever the occasion and would be really well received. I’d love to receive any of these as a gift and will be recommending them to everyone!
