The Beefeater is a restaurant that I have wanted to visit for a very long time, but up until now I have never been! My boyfriend raves about the food there as he visits often when staying away from home, so I was extremely excited to eventually get the chance to visit The Brecks Beefeater in Rotherham with my family.

We made our way by car and found the restaurant very easily, and parked in the large restaurant car park where there was an abundance of spaces to choose from. This is a welcome change from other restaurants, especially at 6pm, where we usually find it difficult to get a large enough space to get our two young children (18 months and 7 months) out of the car. The exterior of the restaurant looked inviting, with a beer garden to the front. Had it of been a warmer day we would have loved to sit outside and enjoyed some sunshine!

Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted immediately by a friendly member of staff who seated us at our table, and offered to take our drinks order. For our drinks we both ordered a bottomless diet Pepsi refill, which seemed like an excellent way to keep us refreshed, whilst being affordable. We were also handed our menus and the children’s menu which was Mr Men themed. Our children were given an activity book each and colouring pencils, which certainly kept our toddler happy whilst we were pondering the menu. The highchairs which were provided were at table height without a tray which were perfect to make our children feel a part of the meal, they even had their own mini cutlery – a perfect touch! Once I had got comfortable I began to look around and I was impressed by the fresh, modern decor, and also impeccable cleanliness. The table tops were wooden and the theme of the restaurant really suited the menu, little touches such as the bull wall art all pulled the theme together well.  When we arrived the restaurant was quite busy, which is always good to see in a restaurant as it gives a nice atmosphere, with the sound of chatter and laughter. However, it would’ve been nice if there was some background music to add a little bit more to the ambience.

We were approached by a lovely member of staff just as we had chosen our meals, to take our food order. My partner ordered the BBQ Chicken ‘n’ Ribs with triple cooked chips (£13.59), and I ordered Sticky Bourbon BBQ Ribs (£13.79).

For my toddler we decided to go for the two course option for a main and desert, priced at £5.49 for 2 courses. There were other options available: a 1 course meal for £4.49, and 3 courses for £5.99. This is extremely good value for money for the amount of variety on the children’s menu. For his main meal we opted for the children’s pizza with corn on the cob and fries (we swapped the garlic bread to fries!).

Our meals arrived 15 minutes after ordering, which is not long to wait for top quality food in a restaurant. Upon arrival at our table our food looked mouth-watering, and we couldn’t wait to tuck in! The food was hot and well cooked, with the meat of the ribs falling off of the bone. A highlight of the dish for me was actually the delicious coleslaw which accompanied it, you could really tell that it was freshly made with quality produce! The only thing that I would change about my Sticky BBQ ribs would be to have them served on a larger plate, as I found eating them a little bit awkward with lots of chips flying off my plate!  Once we had finished eating our mains I felt that there was a little bit of a wait before our table was cleared, but it was lovely to have a little break as I was so full after a gorgeous main course!

We were then offered the desert menu, which we can never decline! There was so much choice, but what really caught my eye was the new Melt in the Middle Chocolate Pudding with custard (£4.49). I’m a real chocolate lover so I was excited to try it! My boyfriend ordered the Cookie Dough Sundae (£4.79), and for my son we ordered the Mini Chocolate Challenge (as part of his 2 courses for £5.49). When our deserts arrived just 5 minutes after ordering them, our eyes lit up, our son’s especially! He really enjoyed creating his own desert with the different components. My chocolate pudding was divine. The outside was soft and spongy, and the inside was oozing with warm chocolate, a real indulgence. After finishing our plates were cleared promptly and I requested the bill.

Overall, the experience was fantastic! Stunning decor, friendly staff and outstanding service throughout our meal. All of this amazing service was accompanied by very reasonably priced meals which didn’t lack in quality. I will certainly be returning to try other dishes on the menu, and I will also be recommending the restaurant to all of our friends.
