Mavala Nude Trio Review

It’s Mother’s day soon and if your mum loves painting her nails I would definitely recommend treating her to the Mavala Nude Trio.

Mavala created the mini color range based on the premise that nail polish, regardless of the quality, tends to dry out sooner or later. The idea is that each 5ml bottle will be used and finished before it dries out. Mavala have a range of nail varnish colours from subtle nudes to bold and bright yellows and reds. In addition to nail varnishes they also have nail care products such as cuticle cream and oils and nail care accessories such as emery boards and manicure sticks.

The nail varnishes arrived well packaged in an envelope and bubble wrap which reduced the risk of them being damaged during transit. I received them within 6 days and they were posted through my letter box. When I opened the package I was greeted with 3 pretty little nail varnish bottles with gold lids. They were clearly labelled with the number and colour of each, these were Rose Shell, Sapporo and Velvet. A full list of the ingredients are underneath a sticky label, with a barcode and a flammable warning on it, at the back of the bottle.

The first thing that grabbed my attention was that the top of the gold lid was an octagon shape and it had the letter M embossed into it. I felt the octagon shape made it easier to grip and open the bottle than it would have been with an oval shape lid. I struggle to keep a steady hand when painting my nails but the shape of the lid made the task much easier than usual. I also noticed that the bottle itself was sturdy and of high quality.

The nail varnish was fairly easy to apply and it went on smoothly. The brush is thin and therefore it required more strokes than a thicker brush but enabled a more precise application. In my experience a thinner brush is usually best if you would like a flawless finish. I used a base coat and then two thin coats of nail varnish finished by a top coat and was impressed with the results. My favourite colour was the Velvet followed by the Sapporo and then the Rose Shell. I was happy to notice that the nail varnish was dry within a few minutes. I also felt the nail varnish was of great quality, long lasting and showed no signs of chipping within a few days.

I like the size of the bottles as they are small enough to carry around in a handbag or purse. They also won’t take up much of your liquids allowance at the airport, just in case you’re planning on whisking your mum away for a Mother’s day adventure.
