As a mum of four children, I would have been over joyed with some of the products that are on the market now for babies. We have four grandchildren now, who range from age twelve to three years. I have been in my element in recent times with all the marvellous inventions on the market for your little bundle of joy.

My daughter in law introduced me to the Dr Brown’s range of bottles which were invaluable with the two youngest grandchildren as they suffered with really bad wind that just wouldn’t seem to come out, from either end! Our niece has very recently had a baby, so reviewing the Dr Brown’s Steam Bottle Steriliser and Dryer came completely at the right time.

This product won the silver Made for Mums award 2024, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s big enough to fit up to six baby bottles. It can also be used for breast pump parts, pacifiers and teethers. It’s not overbearingly large, so will fit in nicely on your kitchen worktop. The difference with these new modern sterilisers is time, time is golden when you have a new baby, as a grandparent who has tried to help a lot in those first early weeks, you appreciate more the when they sleep you sleep saying that people repeat like a mantra. Time saving gadgets mean you don’t wake up to the sound of a crying baby with no clean sterilised bottles and break into an awful sweat.

This particular steriliser can sterilise only, dry only or an automatic setting to do both. It’s quick and easy, you still wash your bottles teats lids etc in warm soapy water, then pop into the unit, add water according to instructions. The bottles fit in nicely on the base which has little holders that stop bottles falling over during the process. What I will say is be super careful and don’t lift the lid during mid cycle, you should wait a few minutes after a cycle also.

By using this type of steriliser you can be 99.9% sure of eliminating bacteria, mould and the yeast that causes thrush. You don’t necessarily have to have the same brand bottles either. You should note that the filters should be changed around every six months. If you don’t open the lid items will stay sterile for up to 24 hours.

This steriliser is a real game changer and works perfectly as part of your child’s feeding systems. You should keep an eye out for any scaling, with previous steam sterilisers, much like your kitchen steamer might need regular descaling. There is so much to like about this item and to be honest anything from the Dr Brown’s range I have always found to be of good quality and reliable. You can be sure you are in very good hands with almost all of the Dr Brown’s range. I would recommend if you are currently shopping for a new born or are expecting a new addition sometime soon.
