In my day the only way to get that motorbike sound from your push bike was to pinch a peg from your mum and use it to attach a piece of card to the back of your frame just poking into the spokes. It was effective until the peg fell off or the cardboard turned out of the spokes. In truth you spent more time trying to get that awesome sound than you did enjoying it.
Times have changed and kids can now turn to the Turbospoke Bicycle Exhaust System. So my son anxiously stands by waiting to see what his first ever ‘proper’ bike modification will look and sound like. We took it out of the packet and found everything we needed to attach the system to the bike. Even better, it was easy and I mean really easy. You are provided with cable ties to fix the device in place and you’re pretty much ready to go.
Then the choice was down to my son, which of the three sounds would he choose first? Well, it was an easy choice for him, he chose the red card, T500 power. The item comes with three cards in total, T125, T250 and T500 and each one gives a different sound. The cards themselves seem durable and look like they will outlast my son’s desire to have an engine sound come from his bike.
At first I was sceptical about how effective the exhaust would be at amplifying the sound and assumed it was more for show. I was wrong, the exhaust system definitely makes the noise louder and adds to the overall effect. It does add a little width to the rear and if your children are like mine, it’s in danger of taking a bit of a beating when the bike is slung to the ground when they jump off the bike. It’s hard to say how long it will last but I think the cable ties would be the first thing to go and they can easily be replaced.
In conclusion, my son is delighted and it’s not hard to see why, he’s already asking if he can add another to the other side. Twin exhausts on a push bike, who would have thought? I would recommend this product and feel confident that your child will love it as much as my own. We may even look to get him that second exhaust in place, with people asking for gift ideas leading up to Christmas, this absolutely comes within the budget of many relatives and would be a much appreciated gift. Good fun and an all-round winner!
