Sylvanian Families Country Doctor Review

Country Doctor

I was lucky to be sent the Sylvanian Families Country Doctor clinic to review, I have two 6 year old girls who were very excited to help me unpack the clinic. The item was nicely and well packaged, the main clinic comes in one piece however it needs some assembly as the stickers need adding and all the internal fixtures need unpacking and adding to it. The small pieces such as medicine bottles, instruments and tablets are in an easy to open clear tray, whereas the booklets and pill packets are all on a pre-perforated sheet and need folding. It probably took us 20-30 minutes to unpack and assemble everything though you may find it quicker without the able assistance of 6 year old twins! In general the clinic was very easy to assemble though the small paper packets that replicate bandage and pill packets are very fiddly to put together, I suspect that they won’t stand up to much handling and personally think they would have been better in card. It also took me ages to find any assembly instructions until I finally figured out they were printed on the box itself, but they were very basic and could have been much clearer.
The clinic is beautifully detailed, it comes with “over 45 pieces” including a little white coat for your Doctor to wear, a stethoscope, pills, a plaster cast and crutch for an injured animals foot, information booklets for the clinic, weigh scales, charts, clipboard and loads more. I haven’t seen Sylvanian families accessories since I was a child and they are as good quality and detailed as I remember them. It also comes with a cute little story book telling the story of Creme the little rabbit who was afraid of going to the doctor. Considering the tiny size of the pieces within this clinic I suspect 6 is about the youngest age this is appropriate for, though I am basing this on knowledge of my own children. I have asked the girls for their comments and they think it is beautiful, and they really liked the height measurer as it moves up and down. They also found it very easy to play with, with its open top and back allowing access for both of them to play together easily. I believe that the clinic is designed to go underneath another house as part of the town street, and it will also connect onto other playsets too but it is perfectly fine on its own as a standalone toy. The downsides the girls have commented on were that they would have liked the clinic to come with at least one character as they really want to play with it as the story suggests and with the specific characters that the book mentions. They have also commented on how fiddly and flimsy the paper accessories are.
All in all I am really pleased with this, the level of detail is fabulous and it should provide hours of entertainment, the clinic can be played with on its own or alongside any other Sylvanian Families playsets though be aware that all the figures have to be bought separately and I feel that Father Christmas is going to be asked to bring varying bunny rabbit families to my house so the girls can play with it just as it shows on the pictures.
