As a child of the 80’s who was raised on the original Star Wars films, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this latest edition of the Millennium Falcon to share the nostalgia with my son and enthuse the next generation in our family!

I was particularly impressed with the level of intricate detailing on the Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron Assault Class Millennium Falcon, bringing back memories of my brother’s original Millennium Falcon, back in the day! The Falcon comes complete with loads of features – opening cockpit, motion activated sounds, light up thrusters, landing gear and rotating canons.

The features don’t stop there, this item also comes complete with its own set of micro characters – Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Chewbacca and Princess Leia. When I say micro, I mean really, really small – each figure is 2.5cm high, but pose able, so Han can sit at his table or in the cockpit inside the Falcon. Due to their size, it’s easy to foresee these characters getting easily lost, so I’ll be making sure they stay inside the Falcon, when playtime is finished.

Clipping in the canon for the rotating canon and the satellite, was the only assembly required, other than installing 3 x AAA batteries (not included). I noticed that the canon comes loose quite easily, so that’s something to keep a watch of, as it would be such a shame for it to get lost.

I’m not going to lie, myself and my husband were a little flummoxed at first, trying to find how to get the batteries into it, as the compartment is really well concealed, within the detailing. Thank goodness that instructions are supplied! However, once the batteries were in and the thrusters lit up in blue, we made the jump to lightspeed and we were off. My son couldn’t get enough of the motion-activated sounds, as he whizzed the Falcon through the house. There are 2 buttons, one which controls the thruster lights and the other the sounds. I was impressed with how long it kept my son entertained for, usually he’s bored with toys within a few minutes, but he played a lot longer, so that was a bonus and has played with it daily, since it arrived.

The item arrived in good time, unfortunately the edge of plastic packaging had cracked in the post, but the item itself was undamaged. It would probably have benefitted from either being boxed or having some bubble wrap around it. The item itself was well protected, mainly in plastic casing within the box. I thought the item packaging looked great and in-keeping with the Star Wars theme.

The Falcon is marketed at Children Age 8+ and this is definitely appropriate, given how tiny some of the detachable/ separate parts are. There are a number of other Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron vehicles available in the collection. The Millennium Falcon and the other Squadron Assault Class vehicles in the collection would make the perfect Christmas gift for any Star Wars fan, no matter their age.

I felt the £39.99 price point was quite high given the intended target audience. However, I believe a collector would happily pay this price for this, the main centrepiece of their fleet.
