I was excited to get going with this project and make a book for my daughter. The concept behind the Storydo books is that everyone has their own unique story to tell, they are inclusive and work for all types of families. They are designed and developed with Child Psychologists and Child development experts.
I was sent a website link to begin and one of the first things it suggested is getting all the photos you wanted to use ready first so that they are easy to find when you need to insert them on to the pages. I highly recommend doing this, once I had done this it made the process much easier.
The book can include whatever you want it to from family, to milestones, pregnancy and birth or even celebrations and challenges and so much more, it’s your story to create.
When you first go onto the website there are different coloured books to choose from Green, Orange, Blue, you then add the name of the person you are creating the book for and what you want the book to be called. They give you some ideas but you can choose your own.
They have some options for you to choose. For example for your child, Rainbow baby. Co-parenting all shapes and sizes, blended and extended families as well as others. It then takes you through step by step and will even write it for you as you go through, this can be edited if you want to change the wording. I liked that it gave you ideas what to write and that you could keep what it said or adapt it suit you. As you went along it also told you where to add photos and again gave ideas of the sort of photo to use for example one of you as a family, or immediate family members followed by extended family.
At the beginning after you have selected name and uploaded a photo for the front cover it tells you how to change the font and size as well as how to zoom and move writing and photos. As you add the photos it tells you if the image will be good or not for printing, I did leave some of mine that said not good for printing as I really wanted those photos in the book and they came out just as good, but it is worth knowing in case when you get the book they may be blurred, luckily none of mine were.
As you go through each chapter it tells you exactly what to do and explains the chapter.
The book was beautifully laid out and colourful, with lots of options and throughout it asked questions so you could really personalise your book, you can skip bits that you don’t feel are relevant.
I think it is quite pricey for what it is, I did however have a look and others are a similar price and don’t have the options and ideas to help along the way to create your book, which I thought was great as the ideas along the way really helped the book to flow and take shape.
It takes around 2-3 hours to make without gathering the photos so definitely recommend doing this beforehand hand. You can save as you go and when you go back in you are where you left it. It took me longer than this to make as did over a few evenings.
I gave it to my daughter as an early Christmas gift, she loved reading our journey and how we got together and seeing photos of us when we were younger.
Rating: 5/5
Can be purchased here and would make a great Christmas gift for a small child or even a grown up.
