Having a mouse in the house in generally not considered a good thing. I have quite a funky one living on my desk now and it’s there to stay!
Now that the days are getting brighter in the mornings and staying lighter a lot longer into the evenings it is the perfect time to start on home redecoration. And this provides a plethora of options and decisions to be made, do you go with plain and practical or quirky with statement pieces?
Well if you ask my girlfriend, I would go with plain, practical and boring. That is until I came across Dusk Lighting and their range of quirky lighting options. If you want fun and quirky lighting options for any room in your home, then Dusk Lighting is the website to look at.
After looking at some very cool raven and monkey wall and table lamps (from the Seletti range) I decided to go with the Seletti Mouse Lamp in Gold Finish Sitting Edition (also available in standing and lying down styles, and also in white). This is very quirky and will definitely stand out, a real statement piece that I have no doubt will be the start of many conversations.
It arrived well packaged and well presented in a gift box. In the box is the mouse lamp, a bulb (unusual as most lamps I have had in the past don’t come with one) and information about the lamp.
Now it was time to break loose the mouse from its house – sorry, I mean gift box!
The Sitting Mouse is made from resin, painted gold and measures approx. 5x15x12.5cm and comes with a very generous 2.5m cable that has a rocker switch fitted. The supplied bulb is a warm white light – E12 1w (90 lumen 2200k) LED, which is bright enough for a desk or small table.
Now I just had to decide to situate it. So far it has been in the lounge (where the kids loved it and are trying to decide on a name for their new “pet”) and in the office. It has made its home on the desk in the office and I think it looks great. I think its something you will wither love or hate!
It looks quite realistic as a mouse and I love the quirkiness of the mouse holding the lightbulb.
The bulb is exposed and emits enough light for a desk, bedside table etc. And just in case you are wondering, the bulb doesn’t really put out any heat so no burnt fingers if accidentally touched.
With an RRP of £79 (which includes the bulb), it is more on the expensive side but it is of good quality and is definitely something different to liven up a room. As it comes with an LED bulb it should last a long time before the bulb needs replacing.
For animal lovers, this would make an excellent lamp, either as a gift or for yourself. It is fun and quirky and will add that bit of panache to your room and most certainly get people talking.
And if a mouse isn’t your thing there are other animals available in the range.
