Do you have a friend that’s not a big drinker, pregnant, or driving, but still likes to join in the party? Look no further than the fantastic alcohol free cocktails from Savyll Beverage Co. I’m not a big drinker and am often driving or have an early start in the morning so was very pleased to be offered their Bon Vivant Tasting pack to review. While alcohol free drinks have come a long way over the last few years, in general I still find them too sickly sweet and nowhere near the real thing, basically just an expensive fizzy drink so I couldn’t wait to give them a try. The pack comes in a smart navy and copper trimmed cardboard box, perfect for a gift and the copper branding looks simple, classy & expensive. Inside the Bon Vivant pack are four glass bottles containing four different cocktails, Bellini, Gin & Tonic, Mojito and the new variety, Paloma Tequila. With the front of the box being cut out and the drinks being all different colours they look extremely appetising but wanting them to be nicely chilled first I popped them in the fridge whilst I had a look at the ingredients. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised; the ingredients are all natural, vegan friendly, gluten free and contain less than 5 grams of sugar per 100 grams. Checking the rear of the bottles, I noticed that they are between 60 & 80 calories per 250ml so a lot less calories than a glass of wine.
When the drinks had plenty of time to chill to perfection, I decided to try one per night, and after umming and ahhing decided on the Bellini first, which being peach based can be a bit sweet. Not the Savyll Beverage Co Bellini, this was crisp and delicious, perfect for a summers evening or a BBQ, I really was impressed. Next, my favourite of the four, the Mojito which was very nice indeed and extremely refreshing with the taste of fresh lime and mint with not a hint of sugar, I will definitely be purchasing this one again. The Gin and tonic was next in line, probably my least favourite but only as it didn’t feel so much of a treat as the other cocktails. Last, but not least, the Paloma Tequila, I must admit with this drink I had to check it didn’t actually contain alcohol! It really tasted of tequila, I think you would most certainly be fooled if you were served this at a party, it was absolutely excellent and a great end to the tasting pack. Savyll also do four other flavours, Moscow Mule, Old Cuban, Whisky Sour & Spiced Rum and Cola which can be purchased in the Connoisseur tasting pack for the same price of £13.99 per pack.
For a more cost-effective alternative or the perfect addition to a picnic basket you can also purchase the Simplicity case, which contains six 250mll cans, instead of glass bottles, two each of G & T, Bellini & Mojito at only £11.99. At least than £2.00 a can I think this represents excellent value.
I have been very impressed by the Savyll Beverage Co cocktails, they are a perfect gift for the non drinker and also a great unique addition to a picnic or BBQ combining the taste of popular spirits without the alcohol. A party taste without the hangover!
