Runelight by Joanne M. Harris Review

Reviewed by Sydney Cornforth

This is an exciting novel where two girls six hundred miles apart bear on their skin a runemark. The runemark is looked down upon as it reminds people of the old days when the Gods ruled the land from their sky city Asgard.

Asgard is destroyed and lies in ruins along with the power of the gods. Maggie and Maddy are thrown into a whirlwind of magic as they discover that the runes on their skin have a cataclysmic potential and each girl must decide where her loyalty lies.

The book will leave you with your heart pumping and mind whirling as you read page after page of magic, action and an anticipation of what’s to come.

This book is creative with a comical twist – filled with drama and imaginative twists that will stay with you long after you finish the final page. You will wait in breathless anticipation as you wait for the next chapter in these girls’ lives. Runelight is the second of the series following Runemarks (Joanne’s debut fantasy novel).
