Ardal O’Hanlon brings his Irish charm and comedic style to Lighthouse Poole for one night only on Saturday 14 March. The tour continues throughout the UK, finishing in Ireland in October 2026.

Although I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing one of Ardal O’Hanlon’s live comedy shows in the past, he is very recognisable to me from popular TV shows where he played leading roles in Father Ted – playing the hilariously dim-witted Father Dougal McGuire and DI Jack Mooney in Death in Paradise. So I jumped at the chance to get tickets for the show. He has shown that he is not just to be labelled as only a comedian.

So… what to expect from an Ardal O’Hanlon’s show? Beautifully crafted stand-up comedy? Yes. Celebrated use of language? Tick. Lateral thinking, surreal flourishes, sharp observations? Of course. As for the occasional profundity? Maybe.

Despite his best attempts over many decades to put the world to rights, it is still a colossal mess. And so the Not Himself tour is on the road again so that Ardal can prove that there is healing in humour, that comedy is needed and also proof that the joy of jokes is needed today more than ever. I’m gearing up for a night of full‑on belly laughs and brilliantly outrageous comedy.

This is a one night only show and tickets start from £30.80 and are available online at https://www.lighthousepoole.co.uk/event/ardal-ohanlon/ or by calling the Box Office on 01202 280000.
