The Classic Thriller Theatre Company production of Rehearsal for Murder from the writers of Murder, She wrote (Richard Levinson and William Link) is a spellbinding murder mystery thriller!
The play tells the story of two unlikely people being in love and about to marry, when on her wedding night Monica Wells (Susie Amy) is found dead after apparently jumping from her bedroom window. Her fiancé, Alex Dennison (Alex Ferns) however believes she was murdered and a year later sets out to find the killer. On the anniversary of her death he invites the same cast and crew to the same theatre on the pretence of a reading for his new play.
It is rare in a play for all the actor’s to be as strong in their acting abilities as each other but this piece of art is a rare gem. I attended the play with a friend and they had us guessing till the end who had done it. I must add note for Susie Amy though as I have only ever seen her in Footballers’ Wives which I did enjoy but was rather cheesy and not didn’t extend her abilities as an actor.
I loved the simple set which didn’t change and was simply adapted, the one thing I will add though is they brought a mirror out and the light in the hall reflected badly on it, I suffer with sensitive eyes so this was painful for me, a few people around me commented on this also.
In all this play is a must see, it is so good I wish I could erase it from my memory and live it again, this is a cat and mouse game at its very best.
Tickets cost from £18.15 to £39.40 (plus £2.85 transaction fee).
