My mum and I arrived at the New Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham via train. There is a new exit on the south side of the station that means it is now only a few minutes walk to the theatre.

The theatre is located near pubs where you can easily get food or drink before a show.  On entry our tickets were waiting for us at the desk. The staff were very friendly and polite. The theatre is welcoming and clean. We made our way to our seats in the stalls. The seats were comfortable and we had a good view of the stage.

There was a big screen on the stage which played some Bee Gees videos while we waited for the show to start which I thought was a good touch. The show started with an introduction of Barry, Robin and Maurice, all played by musicians from Dublin. Maurice wore a hat for the whole show and Barry had long hair like his namesake, and they all wore sunglasses. Barry played the acoustic guitar as well as doing the majority of the singing, Maurice played keyboard and did backing vocals, Robin played electric guitar as well as having the lead on a number of songs. The musician playing Barry was a real character and did the majority of the song introductions and really got the crowd going. There was also a support band consisting of a drummer, keyboard/electric piano player and a guitarist from Birmingham (obviously he received an extra special cheer).

The band performed lots of the Bee Gees hits, including some that I didn’t know they had done, such as the title song from Greece and also Islands in the Stream. There were also some songs that I didn’t know at all as they were some of their older songs. However my mum knew them and she said they were done very well. I was very impressed by how high both Robin and especially Barry could sing. They really did justice to a great number of songs. There is an interval part way through, I highly recommend the chocolate truffle ice cream.

They ended their set with the old favourites Staying Alive and Night Fever. They had the audience clapping and singing along to these. They exit quickly after these two songs, do not leave at this point or you will be missing out on a good finale. They come back on and sing How Deep Is Your Love. They do a brilliant version of this song and they hand over to the audience to sing some of it, it went down well. The final song is Tragedy, for this the whole audience is on their feet, singing and dancing. There is a great atmosphere during this show. I would recommend this show to any Bee Gees fans, even if you don’t know so many of the songs like me it is still a good show as they are a great band and they covering the Bee Gees hits well.

Rating: 4/5
