If you have children/grandchildren etc.. then I am sure you have heard of Peppa Pig, if not then you really are missing out!
Peppa Pig is a much loved children’s television show character who has an army of fans around the world and recently my family and I were chosen to review Peppa Pig’s Big Splash at the Opera House in Manchester.
We arrived in plenty of time for our 4pm Saturday afternoon matinee show and used an all-day secure car park close to the Opera House which cost £5.00 which is excellent value for a city centre carpark!
It took us about 5 minutes to walk from the car to the Opera House which is located on Quay Street.
Once inside we made our way over to the box office to collect our tickets and were told how to get to our viewing area in the stalls.
We soon found our seats and took in our spectacular surroundings, the Opera House is a beautiful venue with lots of detail in every nook and cranny.
The staff members we encountered throughout our visit were all friendly and really couldn’t do enough to help you.
The show began promptly at 4pm and the children in the theatre all squealed when the lights dimmed and the popular Peppa Pig theme tune began to play.
The show featured most of the TV shows most loved characters including… Peppa Pig, George Pig, Mr Dinosaur, Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig, Polly Parrot, Mr Bull, Susie Sheep, Danny Dog, Pedro Pony and the amazing Mr Potato to name a few!
The show also featured a lovely character named Daisy played by the wonderful Emma Grace Arends who along with the amazing puppet cast members really captured the audience’s imaginations with songs, dances and clever set changes.
The show is based on the TV series with a few surprise twists thrown in which really did liven up the show.
Although I was expecting character dressed up I wasn’t disappointed that the main characters were played by puppets as the puppet masters were absolutely amazing and their voices were very similar to those of Peppa and the gang!
During the interval I purchased a light wand and a souvenir brochure which cost £12.50 for the 2. I found these prices very reasonable compared to other places I have been before and I obviously wasn’t the only one to think this as most of the children in the theatre had the light wands.
If you are thinking of planning a visit then go for it as the show is non-stop fun with loads of audience participation.
Tickets cost from £16.40 to £22.90 (plus £4 transaction fee).
