La Tasca is a Spanish Tapas bar situated in Xscape in Milton Keynes. There is ample parking right outside the venue, and parking is free in the evenings. The restaurant looks welcoming and attractive from the outside. The inside was warm, clean and welcoming with lively music playing.
We were warmly welcomed and seated almost immediately. I loved the ambience of the restaurant the music was loud enough to get my foot tapping to the music but didn’t hinder conversation. The staff were cheery and polite at all times and incredibly helpful. Our waitress had a sound knowledge of the menu and was able to recommend several dishes. We had a lovely conversation with her when we were discussing our favourite dishes from the meal, and based on our choices she recommended some dishes to try next time.
Our drinks order was taken as soon as we were ready and was with us in minutes. I ordered a glass of traditional sangria which was heavenly and I thoroughly recommend it, my husband ordered a Sprite.
We were recommended to choose three tapas dishes each which we did. There was a lot of choice and after much deliberation I selected the Gambas Gabardina which was King Prawns dipped in special San Miguel batter and fried, Croquetas de Manchego which is hand-crumbed manchego cheese and fresh spinach, and finally the Albondigas which were pork and beef meatballs in a tomato sauce. My husband chose the Tortilla Espanola a traditional Spanish Omlette, Castilla y Leon which were slow-cooked pork cheeks with skinny fries, and finally Spanish-style lemon chicken and vegetables.
All the dishes were beautifully presented and arrived quickly. They were all of an outstanding quality and we thoroughly enjoyed discussing each one! My favourite dish was the Croquetas de Manchego with the Gambas Gabardina coming in a close second. My husband favourite dish was the Castilla y Leon, and I must admit I didn’t like the idea of it but it was amazing!
Our waitress was very attentive and regularly checked to see if we needed anything / were enjoying our meal. I had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend it for both intimate meals and group nights out.
