Penguins: Spy in the Huddle follows 3 species of penguins – the Emperor, the Humboldt and the Rockhopper. With spycameras disguised as penguins and eggs they capture the lives of these penguins in their natural habitats. The 3 part series is narrated by David Tennant.

The Emperor penguins live in the Antarctic and cross frozen seas with extreme blizzards and below freezing temperatures. The Humboldt penguins live in the deserts of South America so battle heat rather than freezing ice and snow and my favourite the Rockhopper penguins live on the cliffs in the Falkland islands hopping up cliff faces to reach their destination.

Part One: The Journey follows these amazing and sometimes comical birds to their nesting grounds.

Part Two: First Steps follows the chicks that are born and having to survive.

Part Three: Growing Up follows the chicks growing up, becoming independent and fending for themselves.

Overall, this is a great documentary about these wonderful creatures and with the aid of the life size animatronic penguins you get really close to the action. You watch how the penguins survive by banding together to beat the harsh winters, predators and even the odd jealous penguin or 2.

Great fun to watch and very informative. I am not a big fan of nature documentaries but I absolutely loved this.
