OXO Tots Twist Top Water Bottle Review

Reviewed by Kirsten Boyd
From an initial aesthetic point of view this is a great bottle, even if the colour is a bit off putting. It is a sturdy bottle, meaning throwing it on the floor or hitting it repeatedly off a wall should make it fairly indestructible. There is a handy loop at the back meaning it can easily be carried by little ones and could be clipped to a bag or similar if so desired.
The twisting mechanism is great. There is a straw that is cleverly hidden when the lid is screwed around; it pops up when it is twisted the other way. The parts can quickly and easily be disassembled for washing and put back together again afterwards.
The clever design of the cup means that its contents are not supposed to spill when the cup is tipped up. Unfortunately this is where the cup’s weaknesses become apparent. There are 2 places where the cup lid can leak from if not properly screwed on: the screw lid where the straw pops out from and the entire lid itself. I have found that if the part of the lid that conceals the straw is not screwed on properly it will leak. This meant several leaks for us as frequently my 3 year old would not have screwed it back on properly; it was also a little stiff for him to twist in the first place. Whilst this may have been just my child I found it really annoying and it is for his reason I won’t be using this cup frequently. This is a shame as it really is a great looking cup and I love the twisting mechanism otherwise.
