OXO Good Grips Grinder Shaker Review

Reviewed by Louise Higgs

Me and my partner had been looking for salt and pepper grinders for a while now, but I just hadn’t found the right ones, so I was over the moon to receive the all in one OXO Good Grips Grinder Shaker to review.

The Grinder Shaker is very aesthetically pleasing, with the salt shaker on the top and the pepper grinder on the bottom. The shaker and grinders are brushed metal, and the salt and pepper chambers are clear, so you can easily see if they are running low. The grinder is made out of a non-corrosive ceramic, which means that it will not absorb odours or flavours, which is a great feature. The grinder also has five different settings so you can adjust how coarse you would like your pepper to be, I’ve found that most of the grinders I was looking at do not have this setting, so I think this is a really handy feature. The salt comes out of the salt shaker at the perfect speed – not too fast, so that your food gets covered in salt, but not too slow, so that you really have to shake it to get the salt out. As the base is the pepper grinder, I was worried that it would leave pepper behind wherever it was placed, but it doesn’t, it stays nice and clean so you don’t have to clean up after it.

The Grinder Shaker comes pre-filled with salt and pepper, which was an added bonus and meant that I could start using the product straight away. The fact that the Grinder Shaker is all in one, rather than having two separate products, means that it is great for saving space in your cupboards. Me and my partner are quite minimalistic, so we love that it is two products in one. We also do not have a huge amount of cupboard space, so again this is why we found the product suited our needs perfectly. As the Grinder Shaker is aesthetically pleasing, you could easily leave it out on your dining table rather than in your cupboard.

The salt chamber is really easy to refill, it just unscrews from the very top so that you can pour more salt in. The pepper chamber is slightly fiddlier, as you have to remove the salt chamber altogether to be able to add more peppercorns.

The only gripe that I have about the Grinder Shaker is that one of the stickers (that is meant to be peeled off before use) has left a sticky residue behind, that I am struggling to get off. So I would recommend taking care when peeling the stickers off the product and do it slowly, as this might stop the sticky residue from being left behind.

I would highly recommend the OXO Good Grips Grinder Shaker. I feel that it would make an excellent Christmas present for anyone that loves cooking, or maybe for someone that has recently moved into a new house or anyone that considers themselves a ‘foodie.’ I feel that the Grinder Shaker is great value for money and not too expensive for a Christmas present or even a stocking filler.
