Last weekend I took my family on a detective themed Treasure Trail in the beautiful town of Arundel in Sussex.  Going back quite a few years ago I did a treasure Trail in Midhurst with my daughter and late mum and I often think back with fond memories of that day, so when I was offered the chance to review another one I was so thrilled and excited.
Treasure Trails offer trails all over the country and come through the post in an easy to navigate booklet with all the information you might need, with the aim being to solve the clues to eliminate the suspects.  After solving all the clues you should be left with one suspect and one piece of evidence.  You can then go online to submit your answer and if correct you’ll get entered into a monthly draw to win £100.

We arrived in Arundel and parked in the suggested car park which was right near the first clue.  If I remember rightly parking was £2.50 for three hours which we found was the ideal amount of time for us.  There were 20 clues to solve and the booklet gives clear directions the whole way around.  This is aimed at families of all ages and definitely not just for kids.  We found that it wasn’t straightforward to find the answers to the clues.  You really had to look hard to find certain things, and this is one of the things I love that you get to notice things you would normally walk straight past.  Some of the clues we struggled with and we had to double back on ourselves and then couldn’t believe we didn’t spot it the first time around.

If you get really stuck you can send a text message asking for help but you can only do this three times.  We needed help with one clue and kicked ourselves afterwards for not looking harder as it was right in front of us all along.  We also had help from the local who said he regularly sees people walking up and down searching for this clue (it’s definitely a tricky one).

We were out for about 2 1/2 hours.  One of the clues took us to the cathedral.  Having never been inside but driven past on many occasions we went in for a look around which was lovely.  I would say we found the roads were quite busy so maybe not ideal for families with younger kids or maybe choose a weekday instead.  There are plenty of shops and Cafes en route and we chose the ice cream parlour as a treat once we’d finished.

I think us adults had more fun solving the clues and I would certainly do another trail in the future without a doubt,
You can tell a lot of effort has been put into creating these and they’re really well thought out and thoroughly enjoyable.

I’m pleased to say we correctly solve the crime and were put into the monthly draw so fingers crossed.   The trails are £9.99 for each single use booklet.  One booklet is suitable for the whole group of family there’s no denying £9.99 for 2 1/2 hours for our family was brilliant value for money.  We had a great time exploring Arundel and we would look forward to doing another one soon.
