What can I saw about the Netflix original series Orange Is The New Black? Outstanding, witty, humorous and very addictive, I can’t wait for Season Two to start.

Orange Is The New Black is a series shown on Netflix about a women’s prison and the lives of the prisoners, focusing on the main character Piper Chapman and based on the memoirs of Piper Kerman’s Orange Is The New Black: My Year In A Women’s Prison.

Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) is living happily in New York with her fiancé (Jason Biggs) until her past life catches up with her. Ten years previously her then girlfriend was running an international drugs ring and she carried drug money across borders. 10 years later she is arrested for the crime and sentenced to 15 months in Litchfield Prison. She surrenders to the prison and swaps her comfortable New York lifestyle of the orange prison jumpsuit and the harsh realities of prison life. In a prison full of aggressive, psychotic, violent inmates and her lesbian ex-girlfriend Piper has to try and fit in and do her time without causing too much trouble (which is a lot harder than she thought).

The show also shows the lives of the other prisoners and how they came to be imprisoned and how everybody is not what they seem like how the cook ended up in prison for what started out as bursting a breast implant.

Overall, Orange Is The New Black is an outstanding prison comedy-drama that will keep you gripped and wanting more. It is very addictive viewing, the storylines are excellent, well written and superbly acted by the cast especially Taylor Schilling and Natasha Lyonne. It has to be one of the best, if not the best, prison drama series shown on TV.

With episodes showing imaginative uses for sanity towels such as flip flops, elusive chickens, drunken prisoner officers, affairs between inmates as well as the prison officers and inmates, pregnancy, bullying, suicide, smuggling, embezzling officials and manipulation you will be thoroughly entertained and left wanting more.

Highly recommended and definitely one to own.
