I personally wear a face cream with SPF protection every day of the year, winter or summer, rain or shine. Even a sunny day in the winter or a cloudy day in the summer can have very damaging UVA & UVB rays. I don’t treat my son any differently and there is always a bottle of sun cream by the front door which he applies before leaving. He has always used a generic sun lotion through, not one specific for the face, so I was very pleased to be able to try out the Pharmaceris Safe Protective Face cream. Suitable from birth and with a very high SPF factor I could tell I would have no qualms about applying this to my son’s sensitive and eczema prone skin.

When the product arrived, you could see straight away it wasn’t just a normal bottle of supermarket type sunscreen, packaged in a smallish hand sized box it looked like a very premium product. The box was distinctly, yet simply, branded in orange, white and silver with the black Pharmaceris logo at the top. The packaging clearly states its very high 50+SPF credentials and shows a character drawing of a child and baby to highlight its suitability for small children. It is also clear that its safe to use on very delicate and sensitive skin.

The face cream itself is in a 50ml tube, the convenient size of the tube making it perfect for airline hand baggage restrictions as well as days out and popping in your child’s bag for holiday clubs or ski school. It has the same distinct silver and orange branding as the packaging and comes with an easy to use flip lid, my favourite style as the top doesn’t get lost. On application we found that you only need a small blob to cover your face, a little goes a long way. When my son first tried, his face was white like a ghost! We have since really scaled back the quantity that he applies, and it still works perfectly. The 100% mineral filters in the cream, do provide a white film on the skin, more so if you over apply, but in time it does soak in and disappear. At least this means you can see where you have applied it.
The Pharmaceris sun protection is definitely more of a cream than a lotion, it feels like a nice light but creamy moisturiser and has a lovely orangey fragrance. It soaks in well without leaving any sticky residue and I will happily be using this on my face, not just keeping it for the children. With its UVA, UVB, wind and cold protection, together with its water resistant properties, Pharmaceris Safe Protective Sun Cream really is great all-round protection, whether you are just lying around on the beach, walking, sailing or skiing. If you or your child has sensitive skin that reacts to other lotions, or you just want a very high very safe SPF 50+ lotion, I highly recommend it, being well worth the £15 price tag.
