Muddy Puddles is becoming a well recognised brand for parents, originally designed by a mum, and with their vision being about seeing kids enjoy the outdoors whatever the weather! I have 3 children, and my 2 boys especially need to be outside and running around, whatever the weather! Until now, we haven’t owned anything made by Muddy Puddles, however after trying this coat, we will be using them again in the future!
I was first of all attracted to this coat because of the bright green colour. So many coats are dark colours these days but I like to dress my children brightly so that not only I can spot them easily, but so people on the roads can too! The bonus of this coat is it also has a reflective zip. The coat is machine washable so my son can get as muddy as he likes, while staying warm and having fun even during the English winters!
One of my favourite parts of this coat is the fleece lining. It is so soft and warm! It can also be removed so the coat is suitable for different temperatures (although please note the fleece in the hood is not removable), and the fleece can be used just as a jumper too! This helps me a great deal as my son doesn’t like wearing a jumper with a coat, but I can get him in to this as ‘just a coat’ then unzip the coat to leave him in a jumper when we arrive to indoor places without all the fuss. He loves how it feels on his skin so it’s not hard to persuade him! I went for the age 6-7 coat even though my son is only 5, and it fits really well. However, he is also very tall for his age and I do like to buy coats a little large to last for my children, so I would say their aging is true to size for an average child.
There are two external and one internal pocket, a removable hood, which also has a fur trim. It is waterproof up to 10,000mm and great against the wind too. It is made from sustainable materials and the company seems very ethical, with the coat arriving in a plastic bag, but then also within a recyclable brown package. The coats do seem quite expensive for children as they grow out of them so quickly, but if you have a large family like me, the good quality and unisex colours means we should be able to pass it down through our other children. There is free delivery on orders over £60, and they also sell boots and all in one rainsuits and snow suits, and give a 1 year quality guarantee to ease our minds.
Overall, we are very happy with this coat and will be using Muddy Puddles again as the quality, sustainability and comfort are all brilliant. It looks great, is so soft and warm, and my son loves it. Now I just want them to start making the coats in my size!
