It’s that time of year whereby the weather has completely turned and we are now braced for the long haul of Winter. Puddles predominately line the pavements and welly boots are scattered across door mats or in hallways!

I’ve always dressed my daughter up in puddle suits at this time of year, regardless as to whether we are off feeding the ducks, playing in a park, going for a walk in the forest or even now, when we leave the house to walk to school! The weather can be so unpredictable at times, so it’s easier to just zip her up in an ‘all-in-one’ with some wellies and gloves on, and that way I know I’ll have a dry and toasty little munchkin regardless of the weather! The Muddy Puddles 3 In 1 Scampsuit is perfect for all cold weather occasions. Last week we battled snow and ice walking into school. I couldn’t think of anything worse than my daughter turning up to school with wet school uniform and then having to sit and try to learn whilst feeling damp, cold and uncomfortable.

Please note, I feel that the company are generous with their sizing of their Scampsuit. I would always rather this though and have a little bit of extra growing room!
The great thing about the Muddy Puddles 3 In 1 Scampsuit, is that it has a detachable (held in place with poppers), super warm (and extremely soft!), fleecy, inner cream coloured lining. This is so very handy making the puddle suit an ‘all year round’ waterproof!!! On very cold, bitter days, your little one will be kept extra toasty and warm with this gorgeous inner fleecy lining. However, let’s be honest, these British summers are also notorious for letting us down and ‘April showers’ can occur at any given point in the year. All you have to do is just whip out the inner warm lining (this literally takes seconds) from the waterproof outer layer, and you have a summer downpour ready, waterproof outfit for your puddle splashing little scamp!
The inner, cream, fleecy lining (made of 100% polyester) can even be worn as a onesie!! My daughter absolutely loves how soft it feels and says she feels like a teddy bear when she’s in it! With a single, colour co-ordinated (in our case, pink) zip, running from the right shoulder down to the right ankle, this is quick and easy to climb into and zip up. She is as ‘snug as a bug’ in her warm winter onesie!!
I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the main waterproof shell has an incredible 10,000mm waterproof rating, meaning that it keeps the wet rain and even snow out, and it’s also windproof, thus perfectly protecting our little ones from bad weather!
As a skier, I always ensure I have a 10,000mm waterproof rating on any of the ski clothes I buy so this makes me very confident in the quality of the product!
The Scampsuit has elasticated wrists and ankles to assist in trying to prevent water/ mud from getting inside the puddle suit whilst our little ones play. I also love how much thought the company have put into their designs. They have even added elasticated, adjustable and detachable (with poppers) stirrups, so the legs can be worn over wellies and held in place, stopping the legs from riding up. This is especially useful when our kids are playing at the park going down slides etc.
I understand that if you purchase Scampsuits within the of 0-12 months age range of sizing, they have fold over hand and feet warmers, which is also a lovely little extra ‘warmth’ design thought!!
The Muddy Puddles Scampsuit feels like it’s made from high quality and durable fabric so I feel that the suit is robust and can withstand a high level of outdoor activity. It is apparently made from 100% recycled materials too, so the Muddy Puddles company is producing sustainable clothing – something I’m a huge advocate of especially for children when they grow so quickly and move between sizes at such rapid speed!
One other main feature to note, is that it the Scampsuit is machine washable!! When playing outside, we know that kids get messy, especially if muddy puddles are involved, so washable materials are a must!!! After multiple washes though, please note that you may need to re-proof the item and Muddy Puddles recommend using a purpose bought wash in water proofer like Nikwax.
This is a fantastic product which was a welcomed addition to my daughter’s outdoor winter clothing collection! With Christmas in the not too distant future, this makes for a great present to go under the tree. Priced at £89 (currently on offer for £62.30), it is a high-quality practical present that will bring peace of mind knowing your child is being kept warm and dry when it’s worn!! In fact, this would make a lovely gift for any time of year because the design has made it a versatile ‘all year round’ Scampsuit!
