Maddy Alexander-Grout’s Invisible To Influential Membership

Maddy launched her Invisible to Influential Membership earlier this year.   Here’s what she had to say about it…

Please tell us about yourself, how/when the Invisible To Influential membership came about and how people can find out more or sign up for it

I set up invisible to influential with the idea that lots of people  struggle with consistency when it comes to  social media, and they are often getting poor results. I wanted to create an inclusive membership for business owners where they could have accountability, trainings, be inspired by each other and get some work done on their socials and their business. It’s now at nearly 300 members!

And we have all sorts of wonderful humans in from all walks of life. A lot of them are neurodivergent due to my personal content. But everyone supports each other.

What have been your biggest challenges business journey wise?

I lost my first business after the pandemic , which was really hard mentally and physically. But we learn from failure and people shouldn’t be scared of it. It was actually the best thing that ever happened to me. I now know my purpose and I can help more people.

Do you have anything exciting coming up that you would like to tell us about?

I do yes! My book ADHD Money and Me is out in March! Which I am super excited about.  Due to being super visible I actually got approached by a top 10 international publisher!

I am also launching a new course in December called  Amplify Your Influence. Which is business, sales and visibility strategy all rolled into one! It’s to help entrepreneurs to stop spending money in loads of different places and start focussing on everything, getting all their ducks in a row. Cost will be £997 for anyone on my mailing list.

I interviewed several members of Maddy’s Invisible To Influential Membership…

Beth Saunders of Yours 2 Xplore travel agency

Please tell us about your business and how/when it came about

I started Yours2Xplore around a year ago, I’ve recently handed my notice in at my full time job as I was struggling to juggle my Type 1 diabetes & adhd and that of my 6 year olds and a full time job (we have around 10 hospital appointments a year between us). I decided to niche into SEN & Diabetes specialist holidays, helping to guide those with additional needs and give them the confidence to go on a well deserved break and know their needs can be catered for.

What do you like best about being in Maddy’s Invisible To Influential membership?

How accepting the community is of neurodiverse business owners/advocates and how it also welcomes non neurodivergent members too.

Have there been any recent wins that you would like to share with us?

From joining just one of the Invisible to Influential group calls I was given the opportunity to be part of a Podcast ‘The Complaining Cow’ which has really given me confidence in my brand and belief that I can take this business forwards.

Please tell us about your business and how/when it came about

I’m a certified life coach, recognised neurodiversity specialist, dedicated advocate, inspirational speaker, transformational workplace trainer and consultant for neuroinclusion. I help individuals and organisations create truly neuroinclusive lifestyles & workplaces in which all neurotypes can thrive. My work was born from over 20 years of lived experience, muddling through life feeling broken, burdensome and problematic. All of this because I had no idea about neurodivergence. In the last 5+ years I have completely redefined & reclaimed my life, and realised my purpose is to help others do the same. I adore watching the extraordinary clients transformations that take place throughout a coaching/ training journey, it is honestly a phenomenal privilege I cherish daily.

What do you like best about being in Maddy’s Invisible To Influential membership?

The thing I like the most about Maddy’s membership is the raw honesty and authentic support energy, created from a group of courageous people coming together to be vulnerable, learn and grow. There are so many groups out there designed to make a quick buck, but this isn’t one of them. You can tell that Maddy pours her absolute soul into this from a beautiful place of genuine care & love, and the outcome speaks for itself.

Have there been any recent wins that you would like to share with us?

Absolutely! My clients amaze and inspire me on a daily basis so there are always wins to be ecstatic about.

-I’ve been able to secure over £50,000.00 worth of Access to Work funding in total this year to provide vital support and specialist kit to help individuals overcome barriers at work caused by conditions.

-I’ve recently been scheduled for a speaking opportunity on ‘Life Changing Diagnoses’ for a virtual summit taking place next month.

-Clients have shared wins with me recently including:

> being able to notice their confidence building after 10+ years of feeling hopeless

> being able to advocate for themselves within work and home domains to have their needs met more effectively & empathically

> supporting multiple clients to secure permanent job opportunities after many years of struggling to retain work

Jenny Lucas of Audhdistically Me

Please tell us about your business and how/when it came about

My business began with a desire to support others through coaching and holistic wellness (I’m a Reiki Master), but it truly took shape after being signed off from my teaching role in 2021 due to burnout. I had dedicated years to education, but something still felt insurmountable. In 2022, I was diagnosed with ADHD and autism, which finally explained so many of the challenges I had faced—the overwhelming demands of teaching, the complexities of parenting two neurodivergent daughters, and the feeling of needing to adapt to a world that didn’t seem designed for me.

Since my diagnosis, I’ve been on a continuous journey of learning, discovery, and growth. I threw myself into understanding how autism and ADHD uniquely manifest in women and completed formal coaching certifications to combine my teaching background with my lived experience. My goal is to provide support for other late-diagnosed neurodivergent individuals, recognising the huge journey of self-discovery that follows diagnosis, and how overwhelming it can feel without guidance.

My coaching is designed to be that support—providing clients with a guided, empowering path toward self-acceptance and personal growth. For those navigating the weight of a late diagnosis, it offers the tools and validation needed to embrace their unique traits with confidence and resilience, along with practical strategies for daily life. My clients often finish sessions feeling more understood, capable, and in tune with their strengths as neurodivergent individuals.

In addition to coaching, I host The Empowered AuDHD Community, a free Facebook group offering a safe, welcoming space where members can connect, learn, and feel validated in their journeys. I also host a monthly podcast, Autism, ADHD and Us Three, where I share the joys and challenges of parenting neurodivergent children as a neurodivergent parent myself. My aim in all of this work is to be the support I once needed, fostering a community and environment where others feel truly seen, accepted, and empowered on their paths of self-discovery and self-growth.

What do you like best about being in Maddy’s Invisible To Influential membership?

I love Maddy’s honesty and vulnerability in the membership. She is showing up and doing exactly what she preaches about in the membership and she’s showing the realities of running a successful and busy business as a neurodiverse mum! She definitely gives “if I can do it, you can too. And here’s how!” vibes!

Have there been any recent wins that you would like to share with us?

This month (November) I am finalising my certification in being a Somatic Trauma Informed Coach, which is hugely exciting! Learning all about how your nervous system can be influencing everything in your life, including how you see yourself and how that can be further impacted by being undiagnosed or late diagnosed has completely opened my eyes!

Shaun Thompson of The Behaviour Change Coach

Please tell us about your business and how/when it came about

My business is now an evolution of Personal Training which started 14 years ago. Retiring from Ice Hockey and Lockdown were two huge turning points in not only my business but my life. This was due to uncovering by accident decades of root cause issues behind my own weight gain and unravelling the root cause to many peoples issues don’t lie in another workout or diet. This took me down a route of personal development again by accident that made me realise there was more to change than what a PT session offers and to make a transformation stick we have to look at how we behave.

What do you like best about being in Maddy’s Invisible To Influential membership?

The inclusivity of it and how everyone is willing and wanting to support everyone. We’re all on the same journey so why can’t we all go together?

Have there been any recent wins that you would like to share with us?

A couple of weeks back I’d hit a road block, maybe burn out and after a random chat with someone I went from staring at a screen to thriving with ideas as I had realised my burn out this time was due to a loss of identity and that my business needed a re direction to drive it forward.

Sam Milburn of the Could It Be ADHD Podcast

Please tell us about your business and how/when it came about

I started my ADHD podcast in May this year when I began by talking about my late diagnosis journey with no audience at all! I talked about the emotions and difficulties that came up. But I later wanted to share other lived experiences. Even though we are ADHD we are all unique and experience our ADHD in very different ways. So I started to interview people, asking them questions about their experiences and bring in other professionals to talk about insights into managing ADHD. Being ADHD brings a lot of risk factors including mental health problems which for me has been crippling over the years. Not so easy when you’re also trying to manage a digital marketing business as a self-employed business owner! My aim is to get rid of some of the stigma around our ADHD and fight some of the misinformation out there. It’s a passion project for me that ties nicely into my digital marketing business, where I spend a lot of time showing people how to make their marketing accessible and inclusive.

What do you like best about being in Maddy’s Invisible To Influential membership?

Being in Maddy’s membership means I have some accountability with my social media and showing up online. Consistency is difficult for me. I struggle a lot with keeping a consistent flow, so Maddy’s membership gives me that support to keep going. And as the community are mostly neurodivergent there is never any stigma or shame around anything. Everyone is amazing!

Have there been any recent wins that you would like to share with us?

My biggest achievement in Maddys’s membership so far is that my Instagram channel for the ADHD podcast has had nearly 10 million views in just 6 months. I have at least 5 videos that have gone viral so I feel I must be doing something right! I do owe this to being brave with tweaking content and finding what works, plus consistency.

Helen Dewdney of The Complaining Cow

Please tell us about your business and how/when it came about

The Complaining Cow started as a hobby in 2012, sharing stories about getting refunds and redress for friends and family. Very quickly it became apparent that there was a gap in the market for consumer advice and the blog grew. It is now the longest running, most comprehensive consumer rights and customer service blog written by an individual in the UK. It is truly independent with no sponsored posts or advertising.

Within the first year I had been on Radio 5 and BBC Breakfast.

In 2014 I published my first book and best-seller, “How to Complain: The Essential Consumer Guide to Getting Refunds, Redress and Results!”, the second, “101 Habits of an Effective Complainer” in 2019 and in 2024, “How to get Free PR and Be Paid For It: 280 ways to raise the profile of your business”

After a few years I started to work with businesses from one person bands to the largest banking group in the UK. I help them increase their sales through improving customer service, reducing risk to reputation and finances and impact on customers, particularly those who are vulnerable. I do this through training, consultancy and Power Hours.

I am also a journalist and keynote speaker.

What do you like best about being in Maddy’s Invisible To Influential membership?

Being able to swear! It’s a safe place to be real! Maddy offers an incredible amount for a very small fee particularly when compared to other memberships. Regular feedback on videos is helpful. I’ve been doing videos and media work for about 10 years so the content ideas and being able to just talk aren’t an issue! However, the regular feedback on what hashtags to use is really valuable as that has made the most difference and not good use is always the reason if a video doesn’t do well!

Have there been any recent wins that you would like to share with us?

I put the same video across platforms. One did really well on Instagram. It was about Tesco saying freeze left over wine. A concept which gave rise to an obvious video and predictable comments which led to 1.5million views (and I think still going months on) and thousands of followers. Another video about taking Tesco to court got 8k views and 12 followers on Insta but on TT it got me (still going) 989k views and 9323 followers. I find what works on one and not so well another utterly ridiculous with no logic!

Unless a selling post, I usually get a few thousand views on most posts with a viral post once a week on average. I am sure the feedback on hashtags has helped enormously with this. Now at 13k followers I still get on average the same number of views on videos as those with tens of thousands of followers so the account is slowly growing! Helped by Tesco quite a bit for a lot of the content! Every little helps!

What do you like best about being in Maddy’s Invisible To Influential membership?

I’m an active member of Maddy’s Invisible To Influential membership, and it’s been a fantastic experience for me. There are so many things I love about being part of this group, but what stands out the most is the inclusive community Maddy has created for business entrepreneurs to become visible. She really understands our unique challenges without judgment, and she just gets where we’re coming from. Being neurodiverse, the everyday struggles and juggling acts can be overwhelming, but this community is a safe and welcoming space. It’s a place that gives us the right support and practical tools to grow our businesses in ways that truly works for us.

Have there been any recent wins that you would like to share with us?

My recent win has been an incredible book collaboration with Lisa Williams! I’m proud to be one of 28 authors contributing to this best-selling book, each sharing our personal stories. In my chapter, I open up about my own mental health struggles, tracing back to childhood trauma and dissociation, and the journey that led me to holistic healing. This path eventually blossomed into my business, where I now create handmade crystal jewellery for a global community. It’s amazing to see how far I’ve come, from those challenging times to now running a successful business that brings healing to people around the world.
