We went to the Beefeater in Guildford for the launch of their new Mr. Men Little Miss menu on the 1st November and had an excellent time.

We took part in the launch day which included visits from Mr Tickle and Little Miss Sunshine and a drawing workshop with Adam Hargreaves (author and Illustrator of the Mr. Men Little Miss books). My two year old thought the visits from the characters were the best thing ever and I went slightly into hero worship mode when I met Adam Hargreaves! He’s such a lovely chap and listening to him talk to the children was wonderful – he apparently likes the naughty characters like Mr Messy and Mr Grumpy best as they are the most fun stories to write. He signed the drawings the children had done and answered all the questions he was asked in such a pleasant manner even though I’m sure he’s been asked them all many times before!

Once the drawing workshop had finished we sat down for lunch. The menu we got to choose from looked great and included Mr. Noisey’s Bangers and Mash, Mr Strong’s Flat Iron Steak, Mr Small’s Little Cod Bites and Mr Messy’s Spaghetti Bolognese. For the grown-ups there was a great selection of meals as well although I think secretly we all wanted to eat off of the Mr. Men Little Miss menu!

We started with a caramelised red onion and cheese flatbread and mushrooms in breadcrumbs with dips. These were both lovely although the flat bread is massive and is most definitely a sharing starter. Our daughter had Mr. Noisey’s Bangers and Mash, I had the chicken linguine and my husband had steak and chips. All of our meals were delicious and we were especially impressed with the children’s meal – what tasted like good quality sausages, creamy mash and a good serving of peas rounded off with a rich gravy. I do wish the gravy came on the side though as there is rather a lot of it and I’m pretty sure most of it would have ended up in her lap.

The chicken linguine was good and had a hint of spice to it – the chicken fillet was beautifully cooked though and not at all dry.  My husband’s steak looked excellent and had been cooked exactly as he had asked for and I know his thick cut chips were good as I kept stealing them from his plate.

We had to leave after lunch unfortunately but the launch day continued with each family in attendance being given the challenge of designing an ice cream in the theme of their favourite character. Although we didn’t get to take part in this we both decided Mr Messy would clearly be the one to choose as you’d get to have the most fun with sauces and decorations.

All in all it was an excellent morning and I was impressed with the food. It can be hard to find good quality meals for children sometimes that aren’t just breaded chicken or fish with chips but this is a good selection of foods that will please most taste buds. I know from our visit we will be revisiting the Beefeater at The Parkway again soon. The all new children’s menu starts at £4.49 including a free drink and soon kids will eat free on Saturdays.

More information can be found at www.beefeater.co.uk and if you visit over the Christmas period Beefeater they will provide little ones with a festive entertainment pack and special deals to be had.

I’d overall give them 4/5 but we will be back again.
