I was delighted to be going to see Whitney – Queen of the Night, at the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury.

The Waterside is a modern style theatre, it is very impressive looking from the outside and the interior does not disappoint. I loved the ambience in this theatre. The Waterside has a huge open foyer but still manages to have an intimate feel. There was a great buzz as we entered tonight.

There is a car park opposite with a small fee to pay (there is a charge until 9pm).

Staff were, as usual very welcoming and the toilets were clean and tidy.

We were shown to our seats inside the auditorium by a pleasant lady. On previous visits, I have found it too warm but tonight it was perfect.

Whitney is billed as ‘a stunning celebration of the music and life of one of the greatest singers of our time’, having seen Whitney Houston in concert many years ago I was going to be a tough critic.

West End star Rebecca Freckleton took us on the Whitney journey with songs covering three decades including ‘Saving all my Love’, ‘Run to you’ and ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ but to name a few, my personal favourite of the night was ‘When you Believe’ she sang this duet with one of her backing singers Shenice, who, I have to say gave a sterling performance, she too had such an amazing voice.

Rebecca carried off Whitney fabulously and with ease; she was extremely confident. Dresses that she wore were really beautiful.

There were three backing singers who complimented her and a five piece band, the saxophonist was outstanding, they all put on a fantastic show. Definitely one to remember!

No storyline to tell of as this is a concert celebrating the life of Whitney, an arrangement of songs as they would have been sung live by Whitney herself.

There was a perfect amount of audience participation, dancing and singing was encouraged and the entire audience were up on their feet at the close of the show.

I would definitely recommend going to see this show it was a great evening of entertainment.

Rebecca is a power house of a singer, doing justice to the legend that is Whitney Houston.
