A huge box arrived and as I opened it I was greeted with the trade mark red Lindt box inviting me to “unwrap the gift of bliss”, you didn’t have to ask me twice and feeling a little like a child who had just found a golden ticket as I lifted the lid the folded gold tissue paper was next sealed carefully with a Lindor sticker. A large graphic of a chocolatier at work was inside the lid and his smiling face made me smile too.

I carefully peeled this open for no other reason than I wanted to preserve the beauty of the gift box presentation. Beneath the paper were two heart shaped boxes with an assortment of chocolates within and a rectangle box of darkness.

I loved the packaging; it wasn’t excessive at all and as it is all cardboard or tissue paper I believe it can all be recycled too. Carefully packaged everything was in good condition.

The size of the chocolates could be described as a really big marble, and each is wrapped like a cracker – the colour lets you know the flavour.

As you unwrap the decision is to nibble or to just go for it, either way, the snap as you crack through the thick outer coating is satisfying. Should you wish to, you can nibble around and then savour the flavoursome filling which is an absolute burst of what can only be described as chocolate goodness. The creamy texture is so smooth and it absolutely simply melts in your mouth.

The four flavours I got try were all indulgently rich yet as creamy as they were delicious. Without doubt there is something for everyone’s taste here.

The Red ones … a milk chocolate moment of bliss, my personal favourite

The Blue ones … a dark chocolate were probably the ‘least favourite’ in this house, and ‘middle of the road’ nice, but a bit average compared to the others – if you want a dark one then go all in with the black box.

The Gold ones … a white chocolate treat that is definitively the creamiest white chocolate we have tasted, this was a family favourite

The Black ones … the really dark ones and at 60% Cacao extra dark is the right way to describe it. Incredibly rich and impossible to eat more than a couple no matter how morish they are. If you like dark chocolate then you will love these ones, this came out top for one family member.

The best before dates on the boxes were November 2024, and two were January 2025, 8-10 months is plenty long enough given I sincerely believe a box will not last long at all once opened.

A 200g box of The Extra Dark retails at £6.30 on their website.
The heart shaped boxes were also 200g and retail on their website for £7.50 each.
I was gifted a heart box of mild chocolate and a heart box of assorted chocolates.
Put together, this was £21.30 worth of boxes of chocolates – I have been unable to find the specific gift box for sale unfortunately. That said, when you consider the price and packaging of other well known companies, I would say £30 and I wouldn’t bat an eyelid.

They’re not cheap chocolates, but they are very yummy and if you are buying them as a treat then this would be my go to, to be honest. I would happily receive these for a birthday, Mother’s Day, Easter, any celebration or a thank you and I would gift them the same. If you are off to a dinner party why not take a box instead of flowers with a bottle of something, I’d appreciate this addition for the evening for sure.

They are an adult treat, not for children. Not because they are not recommended for children, simply because I don’t really want to share them!  My household loved them!!

If you go to the website there is a great selection of gifting ideas with the options to personalise, buy bundles or join a membership. There is a much wider range of flavours than the ones I tried here, and more on the website than I have seen on the high-street including strawberries and cream, coconut, mint, hazelnut, and caramel. There is also a vegan range which includes caramel and hazelnut.

Lindt began in 1845 in Zurich with the first factory opening in 1847, “conching” was created (By accident – when a machine was left on in error over the weekend) in 1879 and the soft velvety smooth fondant was born. Lindor, the established melting filling “chocolate gold” was created in 1949. The established gold bunny first appeared in 1952 and nearly 70 years later we associate the Lindt bunny with a luxurious Easter treat.
