Kambukka Etna Grip Thermal Bottle Review

Reviewed by Alex Wilde

My drinking companion this week has been the sleek, stylish and sagacious Kambukka Etna! If it sounds like I’ve been hitting the town with a sexy Belgian model, you’re not entirely mistaken…

I’ve been testing out Kambukka’s Etna Grip 500ml sustainable drinks mug as a potential Christmas gift. This premium Belgian brand design and make smart and trendy drinking solutions for adults and children.

Atop my desk, I have the Etna Grip 500ml in Ocean – a classy deep aquatic blue stainless-steel mug with innovative drinking system.

This thermal bottle is made from durable vacuum insulated stainless steel designed to keep hot drinks at temperature for up to 9 hours and icy ones cool and fresh for 18 hours. This is a multi-use bottle with a chic black triangular prism silicone grip; equally suited to the demands of the workplace, exertions in the gym and adventures of a busy family.

The 500ml capacity is equal to two standard mugs you’d have at home. More than enough to get you through the commute to work and into a productive mindset.

I’m a tea-drinker myself, nothing fancy mind you, just an English breakfast to start the day. Making a hot drink in the Etna was straightforward and safe, the silicone pad on the base of the bottle kept it standing securely on my kitchen counter and it was easy to wipe down after my bleary-eyed spillages.

The Etna is advertised as ‘leak proof’ and thankfully it kept its promise as it was stored in my laptop bag on the journey into work. This wasn’t a fool-hardy gamble on my part – I was relying on the ingenious ‘3 in 1 Lid’. The BPA free, heat-resistant, interchangeable screw on top has three positions – each clearly symbolised on this colour coordinated blue, grey and white seal. Move the slider to the righthand locked position and confidently keep on moving. Switch it the centre and you’re still save from spillages, but push the main button to take a sip. Finally, depress the button and move the slider to the left for free flowing.

I’m pleased to say my tea remained hot and fresh throughout the morning. I used the ‘push’ to drink function during my commute, avoiding any spillages, and switched to ‘always open’ to fill my favourite mug at work. After a quick rinse, I switched to using the bottle for water from the cooler. Once again, it exceeded my expectations and kept the liquid cold and refreshing.

After work, the Etna joined me for a brisk jog and the comfortable grip ensured the bottle stayed in my hand despite the perspiration. It would certainly be a suitable addition to the gym bag for a more strenuous workout. Throughout the day, a few people commented positively and were curious about the bottle.

The Etna and its parts are dishwasher safe. Inside the top is the ‘Snapclean’ mechanism which operates the functional lid; you pinch and pull to remove this piece which ensures the whole bottle gets a thorough clean.

I continued to use this amazing multi-purpose bottle and, without a doubt, will continue to do so for work and play. It fits perfectly in bags, backpacks and car cup holders. I also used it to save money (25p) and stay eco-friendly by using it as a refillable vessel at a chain cafè. So if you’re a regular visitor, the cup will eventually pay for itself!

I visited the to-the-point Kambukka website and there are a range of Etna sizes colours, patterns and grips, in addition to other flasks. There is certainly a product to suit every need and taste. A further feature that I hope to explore, as I purchase additional products for the family, are the ‘Universal Lids’. You can mix and match the tops, for example using my thermal mug with a water bottle flip lid in the Summer.

With superior looks and class-leading practicality, the Kambukka Etna is a slick everyday solution to staying hydrated, active and environmentally conscientious. And likely to be the only Belgian model Father Christmas will deliver!

A ‘ticking all the boxes’ five stars!
