There was much excitement in our house when the postman arrived with the parcel containing the summer truck set from John Lewis. My son was actually jumping up and down with anticipation whilst I was cutting off the net nag that it is packaged in. The net packaging unfortunately got caught around the hinge on the truck and took ages to get off, in fact there is still a little piece stuck in there.
First impressions of the set were very good; yes its plastic, but a good chunky heavy duty material, nothing flimsy or bendable. The set contains a large tipper truck, speedboat, bucket, spade, rake and a sand mould in shape of a pirate.
The truck in particular is really good quality with large wheels, moulded cab with seats and steering wheel and a tip up back perfect for sand or water. The boat is large, tough plastic and does its job as it floats well in the bath and can also be used as a sand mould.
The bucket, spades and mould have been all round the house and garden and have stood up well to rough use by a toddler. I am now getting constant requests to go to the beach so that he can make sandcastles.
Personally I think the truck set is very good value for money as it is excellent quality, robust and contains all you need for a trip to the beach with young children. It has certainly been a hit in our house and comes highly recommended as a holiday purchase.
