The GEL BLASTER PIRANHA is the perfect solution for a beginner or a great choice for a seasoned pro looking for a new blaster. These blasters are great for both teenagers and adults supporting a more active and connected lifestyle by encouraging play together outside potentially reducing screen time!
The GEL BLASTER PIRANHA is the entry-level blaster in the Gel Blaster range coming in at £39.99, suitable for teenagers aged 14 and upwards, it is also a water-resistant blaster, suitable for use in the summer around the pool and also, in the winter in the rain. It comes complete with a full hopper, holding over 800 pre-hydrated Gellets, a safety first trigger lock and a watertight battery compartment which requires 6 x AA batteries (not included). It’s possible to blast Gellets up to an impressive 100 feet (30m) per shot. This blaster is fully automatic with a hopper capacity of 800 Gellets – extended play can take place without frequent reloading – WIN WIN!
Also included in the box are a pair of eye protection glasses, a Feedneck, full instructions for use, the guarantee, a GEL BLASTER sticker and a pack of 10,000 dehydrated Gellets ready for prolonged warfare. The hopper attaches easily to the top of the blaster via the Feedneck. The GEL BLASTER is made from plastic and the PIRANHA colourway is teal blue, yellow and white.

Setting up the blaster is fairly straightforward. Install the batteries using a Phillips screwdriver, attach the pre-filled hopper with hydrated Gellets, (in the future, after hydrating Gellets it’s important to take care to drain any excess water before loading the hopper), the hopper then screws easily on to the Feedneck which then slides onto the top rail of the Piranha (arrow pointing forward), make sure you have your eye protection on ready to go (as well as those around you when you are involved in gameplay), release the trigger lock and have a blast!
The Gellets are colourful absorbent beads that disintegrate on contact and begin their dehydration process.
To rehydrate the extra pack of Gellets included with your Gel Blaster, you’ll need to pour them into a 1 gallon (4L) container, then add 1 gallon (4L) of water per 1 pack of Gellets, leave these for a minimum of 2 hours for them to grow. Once they are ready, you will need to strain your Gellets. (The documentation supplied advises that it is important to note that failing to fully hydrate your Gellets may cause the Gel Blaster to function poorly and therefore, overnight soaking is recommended, also the Gellets will expand so you will need to use a big enough container e.g. a bucket). I received the Gel Blaster Piranha direct from Gel Blaster via a courier, it came well packaged with nothing on the shipping bag to indicate the contents, making it a great option as a family gift.
I recommend the Piranha as a beginner’s Gel Blaster to get started, for us, this was a completely new activity, and I sense that “Gel Blaster Games” will become quite addictive, especially with several teenagers and young adults within the family. I recommend this as a ‘toy’, especially for that hard-to-buy young person aged 14 and above. The ability to set the Gel Blaster up with targets also enables the whole family to have a go, with a parent, potentially, not wanting to give up their turn – when they become in touch with their inner child! (And. Yes, that happened…).
My rating is a high 5/5 – because you can, not only add to your gameplay by purchasing extra accessories, such as the Gellet Depot – which will hold 10,000 Gellets and is perfect for on-the-move gaming, as well as the Portal Smart Target which links to your phone via an app, but there is also the option to upgrade your Gel Blaster kit further with an Elite Face Mask, a Starfire Activator, the Nova Spotlight and various colour packs of dehydrated Gellets – including the option for glow-in-the-dark Gellets!! Also, the Gellets are every parent’s dream – because they are non-toxic, leave no mess and don’t need cleaning up. No more nagging to pick up those discarded bullets all over the garden!
