Hunt vs Lauda: Grand Prix’s Greatest Racing Rivals – The True Story is a powerful documentary of the great rivalry between two great Grand Prix racing drivers – British James Hunt and the Austrian Niki Lauda.
In 1976 the Formula 1 Grand Prix World Championship was being contested by Hunt and Lauda with Lauda looking to win until Niki Lauda crashed at the Nurburgring track in Germany. Almost burning to death Lauda fought his way back to fight James Hunt all the way to the very last race of the season.
This documentary looks at their rivalry and friendship, their competiveness between each other – how they were friends off track but very different, extremely focused and winners on the track.
Overall this was a great look into 2 of the world’s greatest drivers with unseen footage and interviews from managers, journalist, friends and families and how the ’76 began the change in Formula 1 safety wise after the Lauda crash and him nearly burning to death. An exciting documentary into the very fast and competitive world of motorsports.
My only criticism is that is wasn’t long enough!
A must for any motor racing fan.
