Showing at Milton Keynes Theatre, 500 Marlborough Gate MK9 3NZ. Accessibility at MK theatre is perfect for those less able bodied and there is lots of parking immediately outside which is free after 6pm. There is access via public transport too. Great location if you want to get a bite to eat either before or after the show as there are literally loads of choices.

There are VIP rooms you can book too for food and drink which would be great for a special occasion. Also loved the fact you could scan the QR code on the back of the seats to order refreshments and ice creams rather than queuing at the interval.

Originally written by two-time Emmy award winning comedy and song writer Bruce Vilance with Gabriel Barr and Tricia Paoluccio who plays Dolly. This show has now been beautifully adapted for the UK by British playwright Jonathan Harvey.

The main cast Steven Webb who plays Kevin a 40-year-old comedian whose career is going nowhere and lives in his parent’s loft and Tricia Paoluccio, who plays Dolly. I loved the way the Covid lockdown played a part in the show. They are both funny, talented with the most incredible voices and kept the audience enthralled throughout the show.

I can see why this has been a sell out show, we loved every minute. The singing, the messages it portrayed, the amazingly energetic cast and the stage props etc. This is one of the best comedy musicals that I have seen in a long time, and I’d highly recommend going to see it.

I didn’t know what to expect and it’s definitely not the Dolly Parton life story but captures many of Dolly’s well-known hits. Steven, who plays Kevin has the dance moves that I can only describe as someone who has total abandonment of self-consciousness that we get when maturing into an adult. He also has a really good singing voice too.

Tricia who plays Dolly in incredibly talented as a singer, her vocal range is amazing, and she really does capture Dolly’s signature accent and movement. Close your eyes and you could be forgiven for thinking it’s Dolly on the stage.

The rest of the cast, whilst in the background throughout the performance definitely need a mention too. They are both entertaining and talented. I loved the way they all came together towards the end of the show to blast an additional energy of which got the audience up dancing, swaying with their mobile phone torches. I was actually quite sad when the show came to an end, I’d have watched it all over.

There are only a few days left to see this show at MK and there are some tickets left. I promise you will not be disappointed.
