Hape Musical Whale Fountain Bath Toy Review

The Hape Musical Fountain Whale Bath Toy is quite possibly the best bath toy we have ever had!

It arrived promptly and well packaged in a reasonable sized box to reflect the contents with no additional unnecessary plastic which I was pleased to see.  The box gave a good indication of the toy inside with a clear picture and description and let me know that I needed 4 AA batteries which were not included.

The toy is made from plastic and feels sturdy and substantial, it secures onto the bottom of the bath with suction cups effectively and 5 brightly coloured whales squirt water out of their blowholes.  There are 2 different settings operated by holding down a simple on/off button, the first allows you to play the whales like a piano by pressing them down, each plays a different note, so your little one can make up their own tune.

On the second setting when a whale is pressed down the water dances along to a melody, each whale plays a different recognisable tune including “if you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands”, B I N G O and “row, row, row your boat” This was brilliant to watch and really engaged my children.  Other than the fun factor, the toy has educational qualities including encouraging cognitive development, hand eye coordination and colour recognition.

This toy is a brilliant addition to bath time and recommended for children 18 months and over. I would say is suitable for all young children, my baby was completely captivated by the music and dancing water spray and my 5 year old was equally enchanted. They did not want to get out of the bath!

We have bought so many bath toys over the years, most of which have not performed or occupied as we had hoped.  This did not disappoint, no complaints here. I would definitely recommend to any family with little ones and will be a easy win as a go-to gift.

The toy retails at £25 which in my opinion is money well spent.  Its longevity has yet to be tested but on entertainment value and quality I was impressed. A great investment if your kids are reluctant bathers.

I have not previously been aware of Hape as a toy brand, the receipt of this toy prompted me to look at the website and I was impressed with their range of toys which I would certainly consider purchasing in the future. Hape are the biggest producer of wooden toys, they ensure plastic parts/toys are durable and long lasting. I find it reassuring that they are aware of their environmental responsibility and this has been carefully considered from the packaging to shipping.
