This keyboard arrived in a box within a larger box, which I was surprised to see did not have any other packing in it so it will have moved around in transit. However, it arrived safely and undamaged so minimal packaging must generally work for them.
Inside the box contained the keyboard, coiled usb-a-c cable, key and switch puller and a user guide. The user guide is very basic and universal as it has no words, just pictures. However, it does the job and shows you the main functions.
This is described as a ‘creamy’ keyboard which I assumed meant the colour of it at first. However, this refers to the sound of the keys and soft movement when in use, using cushioned switches which are designed to be quieter with soft feel keystrokes.
This keyboard is heavier than a standard keyboard, due to the gasket mounting for dampened sound and quieter key tapping, both of which are huge advantages for a gamer who doesn’t want to be distracted by noisy tapping on the keyboard while playing a game. However, it doesn’t feel overly heavy and isn’t cumbersome.
It is a wired keyboard and comes with the wire, making it easy to attach to use. It is a TKL (ten key less) setup, meaning it does not have a separate number pad, so is more compact than some keyboards, meaning it takes up a little less space on your desk.
It is also hot swappable with 5-pin Leobog linear switches and is also compatible with 3-pin switches. It comes with the little tool to swap the keys with and means the keyboard can be customised to suit the individual gamer using it, meaning you can set your main keys up as if there is a number pad configuration if that’s your preference.
The RGB lighting has loads of different options and is a great feature. It can be changed via the controls or by linking to the software and there are lots of pre-set options and also the option to fully customise the lighting. There are also different brightness levels. In fact, it claims to have 16.8 million colour combinations as it is adjustable per key!
Responses are fast, with no obvious delays or lagging in use. It also has anti-ghosting and key rollover, which is especially handy if you are playing a fast and furious game that needs multiple keys pressing. It also claims to have a 60,000,000 press durability, which should last a few years even for those pressing multiple keys often!
GXTrust state that they have, ‘affordable, quality, easy-to-use products’. An initial search for their website was tricky as they are one of 3 ‘Trust’ companies so their website is just www.trust.com, no mention of the GX part. However, once I’d explored it I was pleased to see that, despite being a company that produces tech and gaming equipment, they have committed to making their items more sustainable and is working on achieving the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They are committed to using sustainable materials where possible, including PCR plastics and making as much of their products and packaging as possible recyclable. They are also aiming towards being carbon neutral by 2030. They have already won the EcoVadis gold medal 3 times for sustainability, placing them in the top 2% of companies in their industry (information sourced from their ‘about us’ section of their website)
This is a great, affordable gaming keyboard. With Christmas swiftly approaching, this is a decent keyboard at a reasonable price for any gamer who may have requested a new keyboard one as a gift. I don’t personally think it looks as aesthetically pleasing as some other gaming keyboards when not lit up, but it definitely competes with more expensive gaming keyboards in terms of feel, sound and use. It is wired rather than wireless, which may be a consideration for some, especially if wanting to swap it between different set ups. I find that being wired tends to increase the speed of response anyway.
