Getting Personal Personalised Gift Book Day at the Park Review

Reviewed by Stacey Lamb

This book follows a simple story about a child who goes to the park. There was an option for a personalised message to the recipient on the first page, which I liked. Personalised details of the child’s name are repeated throughout the story in various places as they visit the different locations in the park including the swings, the sand pit and the ducks. The story ends with a visit to the ice cream van.

The book can be personalised with the child’s name, sender’s name (both up to 25 characters) as well as 2 message up to 30 characters in length that appears in the story.

The book is a nice size for little hands to hold and the illustrations are bright and colourful. Some of the personalisation works better on some pages than others, but overall I enjoyed reading the story to my little boy (aged 3). He loved the fact that his name featured throughout, and that the book was all about him. I also think the name repetition will help him with recognition.

The comment from Zak was ‘it’s really fun – I love it!’ He also asked me to read it to him several times in a row. So it was definitely a hit with him. I would say that the website could be a bit clearer when it came to entering the personalisation details. There is a preview option to check what details you have entered but unfortunately this wasn’t working when I ordered. This would definitely help avoid unnecessary mistakes.

There are other titles in the same series and the book was reasonably priced. It would make a lovely gift for a young child and I would definitely consider buying a personalised book from here again.
