WOW! This is brilliant for any toddler learning about colours and shapes.

I am a very big fan of any toy, game etc. that encompasses sensory and interactive play.  It is extremely important for any child’s cognitive development.  Geomag World did not disappoint in this when it came to creativity, imagination and motor skills.

I had never heard of Geomag world before so I had to do a bit of research.  Here is what I found and have provided a link for further information. It is worth a look, they are amazing! *Please note, the following information was taken directly from Geomag Worlds website:-

*GEOMAG, invented and patented in 1998, was the first magnetic construction system with incredible performance. Simple elements, such as magnetic rods and metal spheres, are held together by a magical force of attraction to build amazing structures, unleashing creativity and imagination as you play.

*Over the years, we have got millions of people playing with our products and we have realised that magnetism is just one of the many invisible forces that bring life to the Geomag World platforms.

*Creativity, intelligence, the human mind, magnetism and even gravity are all natural energies and forces that cannot be seen but make all the play activities with our products fun and educational.

Now on to the fun part, setting up and having some interactive play with my great nephew who is 3 years old.

The first thing I notice are the brightly bold and colourful shapes which are as follows:-

COLOURS
Red
Blue
Yellow

I found the interaction with this toy brilliant and you can really go crazy with the learning side of things.  When interacting wit a toddler, you can ask then to find a specific colour as well as the shape of the magnetic block whilst building the blocks.  This creates so much thought process as well as getting them to use their cognitive skills.
With regards to the cards, there are 12 of them and have some great images on them, such as a boat, lobster, swan, hot air balloon are to name but a few and they are so cute.  Use more interaction with the child such as, ask then to find the boat card.  This will get them to think as well as interact.  Once they have found the card, ask them to then find the relevant coloured magnetic blocks that match the card. It is so easy to help them but with some time and patience, you will be surprised how quickly they will think and match things up.

The magnetic blocks have been constructed in such a way that they are very easy to hold and grip for smaller hands which makes them perfect such fun and creative play.

When starting off with the illustrated cards, it would be best to start of with the simplest one and build up as the child gains their confidence.  Some cards are more details than others, so, start off easy and let them build their way up to the more detailed ones as they grow in confidence.  This is lovely to see and watch.

HOW TO PLAY
To concept is to match the colours and shapes on the cards with the magnetic blocs.  You either lay the magnetic blocks on to a card or build a 3D model.  It is that easy.

Rating: 5/5

I have to say that this is a really fun and way for any child to learn about colours, shapes, and how to build things by the use of matching shapes and colours.  It is also great for little ones eye to hand coordination and spatial awareness.
