Frugi Sofia Carousel Horses Skater Dress Review

I was chosen to receive an item from Frugi’s latest collection; the Sofia Carousel Horses Skater Dress.

Frugi are a Cornish company who specialise in clothes for babies, toddlers, and breastfeeding mothers. All their clothing is made ethically and their cotton is 100% organic. Not only can you rest easy knowing you are supporting a company that treats their workers and the environment well, their clothes are well renowned for being excellent quality and long lasting.

The package arrived in a simple cardboard packet – no plastic and no excess packaging to speak of. My 2-year-old daughter and I opened the parcel together, and we both exclaimed ‘wow’ when she pulled out the stunning Sofia Carousel Horses Skater Dress.

The print of the dress really is beautiful – the navy background is adorned with galloping horses amongst tiny bright flowers, leaves, and toadstools in fuchsia, turquoise and yellow. It is everything I look for in a dress – pretty without being stereotypically hideously pink.

There are two other designs in the Sofia skater dress line that are equally pleasing – Birdy Dance (owls and jungle birds), and Flamingo Fun (party-hatted flamingos and balloons).

I was really excited for my daughter to try this dress on, because she has just started a small obsession with twirling round. The skater dress has a full skirt for maximum whooshing when spinning, which my little one enthusiastically demonstrated as soon as the last popper was done up.

The material is soft jersey cotton with a touch of elastane for stretchiness. It has a nice heaviness for Autumn/Winter, and I am looking forward to teaming it with tights and a cardigan in the coming months.

I’m confident that the dress will stand the test of time, just like any other Frugi item of clothing I’ve owned has, and it’s safe to say my daughter will be getting a lot of wear out of it!
