Foodhub Review

During these last few lockdown months, who hasn’t ordered takeaway? Picking up our phone and using an app or web based service is almost too easy nowadays. I often find of a Friday night, after a long day at work, my fingers itch to search my apps for the right meal. But I’ll be honest, I’ve grown quite bored of seeing the same places pop-up. It seems that a lot of the big name apps really thrust some venues or restaurants in your face! So I was delighted to be offered the chance to review Foodhub to try something different.

Foodhub are web and app based, so you can place your order via a multitude of devices, from laptops to iphones. Similar to others in their field, they offer a wide selection of restaurants and takeaways from in and around your local area. Luckily for me, being in south-central London, the possibilities felt limitless – there was loads of choice. I think it was great to be able to see small, independent restaurants in the area offering delivery, especially in these current covid-times – an it’s equally great to be able to support the local economy. There was a huge variety of restaurants with everything from pizza and burgers to Caribbean and Turkish kebabs. Yum.

From a quick look at Foodhub’s website, they state that they’re cheaper than other providers as they don’t charge a service fee, and they also don’t charge local businesses commission on their orders – and the savings come to the customer. After hearing horror stories about other delivery apps and the rates of commission they charge, this is truly refreshing! If you don’t believe me and you’re a purveyor of takeaway treats, the website also offers a “compare” feature, where you can find out how much you’re saving buying through Foodhub, rather than other online or app based food delivery services in different areas. Some of the comparisons were astounding with towns such as Wrexham saving as much as 22% – wow!

I used the website to place my order at a nearby pizza place and found it super easy to use – the user journey from finding restaurants, placing an order and receiving my delivery was all really smooth. And after a cheeky check of another app, I was indeed saving money. Cha-ching!

If like me, you can be impatient waiting on your delivery, wondering where it is, why isn’t it here already (5 mins after ordering!) the Foodhub app and website feature a handy order status bar that has a countdown clock that starts once your order has been accepted, which details exactly how long you have to wait for your order to arrive – for me, from ordering to arriving, my food took less than 30 mins – excellent service.

Unlike other web based ordering services, Foodhub also provide a phone number and webchat option, so should you have any questions or queries, you can speak to a human (rather than chatbot) incredibly easily. Luckily, I didn’t have to use this feature but can see it being a real bonus if there were any issues.

Overall a seamless, tasty, local delivery – I’d highly recommend.

Whether you want to order food or drinks online or via their app, Foodhub has something for everyone!
