To say we are big Disney fans in my house is really understatement . From growing up myself as a child watching Disney films to watching them with my children, grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews and ever since coming to the West End too.

There are many favourites and Frozen is definitely one of them. I cannot believe it is 8 years ago this film came out and we still watch it today.

You can imagine how I felt when asked to review the Elsa, Anna and Olaf Crystal Art Kit. I was like a kid in a candy store, even more so like a kid on Christmas Day when the kit arrived.

I eagerly opened the box and was immediately struck by the outstanding quality of the template, it was so crystal clear as too was the lettering for where each crystal would need to be placed. What makes this template even easier to work with and for when it is finished is the fact that the canvas was already stretched and attached to the wooden frame, so once you have finished the art work, it is the ready to hang.

The template is mounted on a wooden frame and was packaged in clear wrapping which was great, it meant it kept it safe from being scratched, scuffed or damaged. On the back of it, inset was the kit needed and a chart which showing you the colours which has a number, symbol and code. This matches with each bag of crystals.

PLEASE NOTE: The canvas has a clear film on it, DO NOT REMOVE. Only do this when you are ready to start applying your crystals and even then you peel it back, bit by bit as you are working.

LET THE FUN BEGIN
I like to work with plenty of space, so I cleared the dining table and set everything out bit by bit to make sure everything was ready and easily accessible. I then made myself a hot drink, put on the soundtrack to Frozen, sat down and could not wait to get started.

Who would have believed that 2.5 hours could go so quickly. I was singing along to the soundtrack and was really taken in by the gems slowly coming together in the picture. I actually found it rather soothing too. It was a great way to unwind, relax and enjoy some time out from the every day chores and work.

To apply the crystals is very easy as there is a pen, otherwise known as a ‘pick up pen’ which you use to… yes, you guessed it… pick up the crystals and put them on to the matching letters on the template. What makes it even easier, is the fact that the template is adhesive, so when placing the crystals down on to each letter, they stick straight away.

The kit includes a great little tray where you can tip a particular colour of crystals you are working with into it. This makes it very easy to use the pick up pen when working with the crystals.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE ON HOW TO START YOUR CRYSTAL ART WORK

• Choose which bag of crystals you would like to start with
• Pour some crystals into the tray provided
• Using your pick up pen, press it gently into the small jelly square of wax, this will make sure that some wax goes onto the tip of then pen
• Once you have carried out step 3 above, you are ready to choose and start picking up your crystals
• When choosing which crystals to start with, you will need to look at the canvas first as you will need to start at the outer edge
• Starting at the outer edge slowly and carefully peel back as small section of the film (the area you are wanting to start at)
• Now you can use the pen to pick up your crystals from the tray and put them flat side down onto the canvas.
• Should you place a crystal the wrong way up or place it in the wrong place, it is easily picked up using some tweezers (these are not included in the kit)
• Once you have finished that section, place any unused crystals into a zip lock bag which is provided. Mark it up with the code or symbol for when you are ready to use them again.
• Keep repeating the above steps until you have completed the picture
