One Friday in the summer holidays on a lovely sunny day we went as a family to Margate Dreamland which some might remember as Bembom Brothers, a white knuckle theme park back in the 80s and 90s. Margate has a bit of a reputation for being a bit on the rundown side which it is, but don’t let that put you off coming, because Dreamland has so much to offer that you really won’t notice.

We all had the mega ride wristbands available at £24.99 each which gives access to unlimited rides all day. There were plenty of rides to suit everyone, but as a family we all enjoyed the dodgems. Then onto the Waltzers, spinning so fast, we laughed so much our faces ached, making family memories to cherish forever.

My daughter really loved the thrill and speed of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster so we went on that together a few times. My son‘s favourite ride was the Wild River, which is a water ride with two drops, one 30 foot humpback plunge and the other a 50 foot drop. My son must have been on this ride seven times straight, after which he was absolutely drenched but he had so much fun! This is one ride I sat out and just watched as I hate getting wet. I wished I had some coins on me as you can operate a water gun to get riders wet as they passed by.

We spent hours riding the many rides Including the Ghost Train, Whirl Around, Helter Skelter and loads more. I think I underestimated the number of rides and attractions that Dreamland has to offer. We didn’t actually get around to doing all the rides as we also wanted to spend a bit of time in the arcade. Let’s face it who doesn’t enjoy the two-pence slot machines.

We also enjoyed the roller skating, set in a 70s style diner roller disco, with music playing it had a great atmosphere, this is a bit extra but so worth it and great fun. Dreamland has so much to offer I can’t quite understand why being the summer holidays it wasn’t busier than it was. I mean I’m not complaining there were no queues, some rides we just rode and re-rode multiple times, it was great, but I was just expecting it to be a lot busier.

We all agreed we loved the sights and sounds of the place, it’s just what you expect of an amusement park by the sea. The staff were all so lovely and helpful which you don’t get very often these days. I almost wished we had stayed overnight and made a couple of days of it as there is so money other things to see and do in the area, but I suppose it’s an excuse to come back again another day.

With the turbulent history of dreamland over the years it’s great to see it doing so well and with so much to offer. We had a great day out and hope to return someday. We had travelled over two hours to get there and it was totally worth it!

The chicken burger was amazing, food was a bit expensive but so tasty and worth it.

Thank you Dreamland lots of memories made.
