Cloud Nine New Contouring Straighteners Review

As my mum often tells us, when she was a teenager they had to use the household iron, ironing board and newspaper to straighten their hair!! Lucky for us all times have moved on and electric straighteners are available to everyone.

Haircare is big business nowadays, you can find numerous brands of straighteners in stores or online, with various prices, from cheap and cheerful to high-end all promising different things for your hair.
I have been lucky enough to be able to review Cloud Nine’s New contouring wide straighteners, for #WGTD

From the moment I opened the delivery box there was no mistaking these straighteners are a high-end premium product. The straighteners come in a faux leather, dark blue hard shell box embossed with Cloud Nine. You can actually have the box embossed with your name at the time of ordering.

Inside the box I found a pair of wide contoured, dark blue straighteners, a velvet style travel wallet, a dark blue heat sleeve, a wet detangling brush with a separation spike and wide toothed comb.

The straighteners tick a lot of boxes for us, we all have thick hair, so the wide plates are great. The plates are 1.5 inches wide, they are lovely and smooth, they are ‘serite’ infused and vibrate to help lock in moisture and improve your hair quality. They have a very handy touch pad digital display.

They have eleven heat settings from 100 degrees Celsius to 200 Celsius. We found that they heat up really quickly but do take quite a while to cool down. They have a flashing light until they reach the desired heat setting, then a solid light, handy if you have forgotten that you have turned them on. They have an automatic cut off after 30 minutes of inactivity, so again handy if you accidentally leave them on and go out!! And as most straighteners they have a 360 degree swivel cord.

They look and feel very sleek and pretty, I love the colour. The quality and design are fantastic, even down to the website having a hair survey, so you can check which heat setting would be best for your hair type.

The accessories are great the wet detangling brush gets through my thick hair, the separation pike at the end of the brush is handy to separate portions of hair, I would not leave it in my hand luggage if flying, I am unsure if it would be allowed with the spike and it would be a shame to lose it. The comb is nice; I would personally prefer a handle. The travel wallet is lovely and soft, it does fit everything in, but I would prefer to use the hard case for storage and traveling. They are too expensive to get scratched whilst travelling.

My daughter did find the buzz of the vibrating plates really annoying, and even though the plates are wide and great for thicker hair she did find it difficult to get down to the roots, and the finer hairs right at the side of her head. The curved plates are lovely and smooth and glide over your hair without snagging when you are curling. However, they do take some practice styling with them, if you have been used to thinner flat plates. We did find that they do work better on shoulder length and longer hair.

As I said before they are a very high end product. Unfortunately, unlike some other high-end straighteners there is nowhere to try them out before you purchase them, it is a big expense if you do not get on with them. To be honest that is why my daughter has not purchased any as of yet. Even though we like the style and quality of the straighteners, personally I think that you could get the same results from a cheaper pair of straighteners.

I would not purchase them for myself, however for a special birthday gift, graduation or anniversary present, I would consider purchasing them, and I would have them personalised for that extra special touch. They have free delivery for orders over £60.00, or £2.50 for standard delivery which is 3-4 days.
