I was lucky enough to be given the Dermatology M Nourishing Heroes Set to try and review. Dermatology M is not a brand I had heard of before but a quick Google tells me that this brand had been borne out of a dermatology clinic in Sussex which specialises in treating and healing atopic eczema, using Chinese medicine. The founder and dermatologist Mazin Al-Khafaji has now created a range called Dermatology M which is now accessible to the masses aimed at lots of problematic skin conditions.

The Nourishing Heroes set comprises of 2 items, the Zi Cao Shui Gao, Nourishing Cream and the Zi Cao Run Chun Gao, Moisturising Lip Balm.

The Zi Cao Shui Gao, Nourishing Cream comes in a white pot with a no-frills label which has a clinical but reassuring feel to it. The cream inside is a fragrance free pale pink cream which is thick, smooth and feels luxurious. You only need a little bit of this cream as it is very rich but not greasy, it sinks in nicely into the skin without leaving a sticky film on your skin. I have only used this cream on my face but it says it can be used on the face and body. I think I’m going to use it for my elbows and heels and it really is nourishing and they are the driest parts of my body. The company website states that the cream consists of “Aloe Vera, Chamomile and Bisabolol with richly conditioning organic Evening Primrose and Safflower Oils. Skin cell renewal is boosted, discomfort diminished and smoother, even-toned skin restored”.

I have worn this under make up and provided you don’t slater it on, I have had no ill effect with my foundation becoming patchy or pilling. For me personally, as we have started to wear face masks again, my face, which is acne prone, has started getting a little red and pimply again, the Zi Cao Shui Gao, Nourishing Cream has been very soothing and a perfect overnight cream.

The next item in the set is the Zi Cao Run Chun Gao, Moisturising Lip Balm. This is a little clear pot which allows you to see the red lip balm in the pot. The balm when in the pot is very firm and wax like and needs to be scratched out with the back of your nail. But once it hits your lips it melts and goes on really nicely. It is very softening and soothing on dry winter lips. The website says it contains “Redroot Extract with Bisabolol and nourishing Vitamin E”. For me it has a mild, not overpowering scent that I can’t quite place, almost mild lemony but with a hint of something else. It’s a great lip balm and one that I would repurchase again as it is very nourishing and definitely does what it is supposed to.
This set is a great set for anyone to buy for themselves, for their eczema prone kids or to gift to a friend or family member who is into skincare. These 2 products feel very good for the skin so I would be interested to try a few more from the Dermatology M brand.
