I was lucky enough to be asked to provide a review of the Chimp Speckle Socks by Critically Endangered, I asked to be sent the socks in large. Size large fits shoe size 8-12.

The socks arrived promptly and upon opening the package. I was impressed with the quality and upon inspection the socks were impeccable. The socks were soft to touch and the grey speckled design was on trend and would not look out of place within any setting. These could be worn in the office, on a night out, dinner date, golfing, on a walk or even just relaxing at home. I cannot foreseen any occasion when you would not be able to wear these socks. The socks arrived packaged in a bespoke recycled cardboard box.

I thought it would be great to get my husband’s feedback on these socks for my review. I asked husband to advise after wearing them for the day what his thoughts were. He advised that they were comfortable on his feet and silky smooth. He said his feet were not hot or cold when wearing the socks and that this feet seemed to maintain the correct temperature throughout wearing them, He said the socks are super easy to get onto your feet and they provided adequate stretch levels for getting onto your feet easily and quickly. My husband has large wide size 12 feet, therefore not always an easy task! The socks are made from 85% GOTS certified organic cotton, 10% polyester and 5% spandex.

From the Critically Endangered website I can see that in order to produce the socks they teamed up with the Jane Goodall Institute to create a limited edition range of chimpanzee saving socks. The range features 194 pairs of socks and is a poignant reminder of the 194 chimpanzees currently protected by Jane Goodall Institutes in South Africa and the Republic of Congo.

Some history below about the sock institute extracted from their website,

‘It was during this trip that it was decided to create a sock company. And using funds from sock sales help protect the Borneo orangutan and their home. The idea quickly grew into a company that supports a wide range of the most endangered species on our planet.

And that’s how Critically Endangered Socks was born. But it doesn’t end there. Our mission is to eventually help every critically endangered animal on the brink of survival by selling the most beautifully crafted, ethical products we can create.

So, as our slogan states, our socks save species.’

I think it is truly inspirational what this organisation has created to help our endangered species and it is great to know that by purchasing a pair of socks you are helping to protect the orangutan community in their natural habitat.

Rating: I would rate this product as five stars out of five stars. The socks will make an excellent Christmas gift for young and old. Plus you have the added bonus of knowing that you are contributing to protecting endangered species. Therefore a win win purchase. Go on and make your purchase you will not be disappointed.
